Our family stayed in the Desert Cave Hotel on our way back from visiting Ayres Rock and Kings Canyon and we all agreed that out of the 5 hotels we stayed in on the way this was definitely the most enjoyable out of all of them. The hotel has gone to a lot of effort with underground displays giving people...

Nice place and friendly service. Probably all can expect as far as quality goes in such a dust bowl location..makes for a comfortable stay and everything you need on site so you don't need to go outside the "safety" of hotel. Restaurant dining also cafe for a lovely cappuccino, pricey breaky though! Has bar & pokies also coin operated pool...

We spent 2 nights in an underground room. The room was spacious & clean. The staff were friendly, welcoming & helpful. We used the laundry facilities & ate in both the cafe & restaurant. It all worked very well.

Stumbled by on this hotel. It turned out to be a good choice. A bit on my upper limit($145), but the room was big, as was the bathroom. Modern and good staff at reception. I suppose if I had a few extra dollars, I would have chosen a cave room just for the experience.

The room was nice and clean, warm hot shower which I liked. The housekeeping was great, loved coming back to my room each day as they clean it anew. The only disappointment is the reception staff as they are not very proactive to answer emails about confirmation of bookings and when we were there, not very helpful with the tours....

We booked an underground room with twin beds. I requested a walk-in shower for my disabled partner and we were put in a disabled underground room. The set-up was perfect - so much space to move around in a wheelchair, the bathroom was spacious, and a large TV screen. I wasn't sure about staying in an underground room but the...

We arrived in Coober Pedy at 5.15 in the morning on the Greyhound Express coach, it was dark, cold & "bus station" was shut & in darkness. I had emailed the Desert Cave Hotel 2 nights previously asking if there would be transport to meet us at the bus station, I had no reply!!! As there was Wifi on the bus...

Dear FayKayRay, Allow me to apologise if in any way you mistook me for being rude to you. I can assure you I was not purposely 'berating you', or accusing you for the coach service being early. At the time my only concern was for your safety as I assumed you had walked alone from the bus station. I agree,...

We were so disappointed over this hotel...The hotel has an absolutely excellent restaurant, and i highly recommend a dinner there, but we were not impressed over our room and the other facilities. For example, the hotels bar downstairs could have been marvelous, but is not cozy, and is mainly occupied by drunk locals. Our room (let me note that the...

Dear Anna-Maria T, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. I'm pleased you enjoyed the restaurant. I'm sorry our above ground older style rooms did not impress. In regards to the bar, I can assure you it is never occupied with drunk locals as this is completely against our responsible service of alcohol policy. Some of our...

To start on a positive note the staff were friendly and accommodating. But we got put in a room with carpet that was soaking wet, not knowing what underground living was like at first we thought this was normal. After showering everyone and putting our children to bed, we realised the amount of coughing coming from them was not normal....

Dear Luong16, Thanks for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. Firstly, let me apologise that the room you went into had wet carpet. This is anything but normal. Dear mustdotravels, Thanks for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We're looking at some improvements over the summer months which should lift the rooms appearance a bit. The Restaurant does have a rear entrance which guests often drive directly to, thus avoiding the stairs. Happy travels! Matt Coxon
