Australia's first dedicated art hotel stands proudly on Hobart's glorious waterfront. A handsome row of historic warehouses dating from the 1820s (the former IXL jam factory) have been creatively transformed into an enthralling multi-award winning first class hotel. The hotel itself is a work of art. Here you'll be fascinated by the unexpected combination of the antique and the ultra modern.

A modern hotel in an historic building close to the waterfront. The art on the way to/from your room makes it an interesting walk. We arrived late and the staff pointed us to various bars close by. We ate breakfast st Jam which had excellent coffee and food.

Hotel's Favourite
This is the best hotel in Hobart, and one of the best anywhere. The wonderful renovation whilst retaining much of the history resulted in a supremely comfortable and stylish set of rooms and public spaces enhanced by beautiful art works, furnishings and fittings which all work

Dear Michele, I am finding it difficult to disagree with your assessment that The Henry Jones is the best hotel in Hobart! We are truly fortunate to be able to combine Hobart's iconic 1820s era IXL sandstone warehouses with some modern comforts and renovations. I am pleased that your experiences at our café, restaurants and design studio were positive, along with you encounters with our team members. And of course, it makes my day to read that your enjoyed our art and history tours; thank you for the endorsement. It sounds like you had 4 days well spent in Hobart. I hope you visit again soon. Kind regards, Greg Ball Guest & History Liaison

My wife and I stayed for our first anniversary and the experience was second to none. Samuel, Hamish, Timmy, April and Callum were all excellent along with some great touches in the room on arrival. Thank you Henry Jones!

When making my reservation, I knew very little about this hotel other than it was in an old canning factory and it was on the waterfront. That's almost like saying...well any of the old clichés. This is a fabulous property lovingly crafted out of an old sandstone factory that

The Henry Jones Art Hotel is in a perfect location and has helpful and professional front desk staff. However, our room (a standard harbour view room) was dark (the walls and ceiling were dark wood with a dark carpet floor), tired, run down and in desperate need of a thorough

Dear Laura, I am pleased that when you arrived at The Henry Jones Art Hotel without a reservation, we were able to accommodate you; however, I am conscious that as we were booked almost to capacity our Duty Manager was somewhat limited in being able to offer room types at a price point you were more comfortable with. I certainly hope that the significant price reduction he offered you from the $476 you mentioned in your review went some way to giving you a feeling of value. I thank you for your commendation of the helpfulness and professionalism of our front desk team; they take immense pride in representing themselves in such a manner. The room that was available for you is panelled with century-old Tasmanian native timbers that were a feature of Sir Henry Jones’ personal office within Hobart’s iconic sandstone IXL jam factory in which we are located. Each of our rooms is unique, quite unlike the repetition of design that can be found in more ‘standard’ hotels. I do take note of your suggestion that the sink in your bathroom could be of a more practical design and can assure you that this is already earmarked for a future refurbishment. Our maintenance team will inspect the showerhead and replace if necessary. I am sorry that your rest was disturbed by noise. Our IXL Long Bar was closed as scheduled by 11pm, so I am unsure of the cause of the noise at 1am but will investigate to ensure that future guests are not disrupted in the same way. Laura, I hope that this experience is not the lasting memory that you take away from Tasmania. We are very passionate about sharing our love for this place with our guests and I hope that you will have the opportunity to return again in the future. I invite you to contact us directly so that we can provide an experience for you that is more closely aligned with your expectations. Safe travels in the future. Kind regards, Greg Ball Guest and History Liaison The Henry Jones Art Hotel greg.ball@thehenryjones.com
