I stayed recently for 4 nights in a twin room with shared bathroom. A bathroom and loo were just across the passage and were always clean and accessible. I endorse the positive comments about Tildy who manages the hotel in a relaxed, friendly and efficient way. The location can't be bettered, especially for the price. The Astor has a quaint...

Got a room last minute on one of the busiest weekends of the year thanks to Tildy. Tildy is one in a million - if she's the only reason you stay here then do it! She's a breath of fresh (honest) air & the hotel is so clean, warm & cosy. Feels like a home away from home. The breakfast...

Stayed here for a night on very short notice, Tildy was very welcoming, the room was very comfortable. Bathroom facilities are shared, but clean. The hotel fit out is a little dated, but good for the price. If you are after something a bit more than basic accommodation for a very reasonable price, then this is the place.

I stayed here for 3 nights at short notice. Superbly located in the city centre, entering the Astor is stepping back in time. Although slightly dated, the decor and rooms are clean and at less than $100/night exceptional value. My room was quiet, clean and I have paid more than $25 for a breakfast like that included in the price....

Hugely entertaining and pleasant stay- Tildy couldn't have been more helpful with advice on parking and trips out. If you are looking for sleek minimal modernity and foodie haven breakfasts this is not for you : if you want old fashioned charm and quirkiness with warm homeliness you will be happy here. Very well located for the waterfront and all...

Stayed for two (2) nights in the Astor Hotel. The location is perfect and within walking distance to most parts of the CBD. The rooms and bathrooms are spotless as well as all the public areas. The hotel is a budget hotel and we found that the price excellent. A light breakfast is supplied and is very good value. I...

I will never stay anywhere else in Hobart given the choice. The hotel itself is lovely: central, well maintained with comfortable beds, windows that open to let in the cool air, spotlessly clean bathrooms, etc etc. But that's not the best bit. The best bit is Tildy (I can hear saying now, 'Bit! She called me a bit!'). She's like...

An experience not to be missed! Delightful boutique hotel in CBD. Owner Tildy runs an excellent business. Rooms may be from another era but they are spotless, sheets crisp and towels soft and fluffy. The continental breakfast is an added bonus!

Stayed here for a few days in an ensuite room. The hotel and room was really clean - and it's in a great location, easy walk to Salamanca markets and some great restaurants. Tildy the host was fantastic. Definitely recommend.
