Stayed there for 6 days. The location of Flinders Backpackers is right in the city center which is great, the breakfast was free and had pancakes, they also have a bar downstairs which is a plus. However this place is packed with boring long term stayers and more than half travelers I met there were German who would only spoke...

Flinders Backpackers is located right in front of Elizabeth Station and Flinders Station so you can get everywhere by train and tram. The staff is very conscious about cleanliness, atmosphere and friendly service. The common area with kitchen (well equipped and clean), cold storage room, billard table (free), table tennis (free) and the eating area is a cozy big room....

Stayed here for 4 nights over new year, room was on the fourth floor. The lift was broken so had to take the stairs but that wasn't really a problem. Receptionist was super friendly and helpful. Room was okay quite full and warm as only a fan available but lots of plug sockets! Lots of toilets and showers! Free pasta...

Not a single member of staff was helpful. Me and two of my friends didn't feel welcome at any point during our stay. The receptionist Monica was rude, obnoxious, and slightly patronising. Wish we stayed at all nations.

I stayed here for a week Pro - They provided free breakfast and staple food for lunch and supper in the kitchen. The staff is friendly kept the place very clean. Netural - Beds were decent but they were rickety so the person on the top moves a little you'll feel it to. Bathrooms are good but they look very...

I stayed here for four nights. All I can tell you is - what an amazing place! I've been travelling around the world for a few years but I must say this hostel has a really cool athmosphere to it. Free meal nights, movie nights, goon punch as well as spacious rooms. A part from all this the staff provides...

I couldn't stand this hostel. They have kids that are living here so I moved into my 6 bed dorm and three girls had bicycles, they had constructed their own little apartment that I moved into which was really uncomfortable. The entire hostel just has really bad, clicky energy. The only plus was the comforter was super soft. The staff...

Great location close to everything which has pros and cons- can walk, take tram, or rail but it is very loud at night- both out in the city and inside the hotel. Staff was AWESOME and answered all our questions as it was our first week in Australia. Free breakfast was nice- pancakes, cereal, toast, and coffee/tea. My girlfriend and...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
