I have stayed at Atlantis for both short and longer periods over 3 years. The good points: staff, location, bathrooms, size of room. The bad: room cleaning is pretty haphazard, no proper laundry/dry cleaning service (bag of washing done overnight but no pressing), breakfast is pretty ordinary. For visitors, the free City Circle tram is nearby, trams to CBD out...

I stayed here for 3 nights, I found the experience wonderful. It was in a great location. Free Tram is just nearby. The staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The room was lovely & clean & comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Terribly disappointed with this hotel. Rated 4 star but certainly should not be. Dirty, Not Maintained, No Foxtel. No cold water in the cold tap even after running it for several minutes. The rooms were hot and you couldn't open the window. There was a box of French fries under our bed and other rubbish under our children's beds. The...

I stayed here a week ago, the location is great! The prices on hotel rooms are excellent!.. Across the road is coles, subway, southern cross station and dfo!! The hotel rooms are decent sizes just small pillows!? The bigger pillows are in the cupboards. The only problem I had with best western is the receptionists I found them rude and stuck...

The young lady who checked us in was verging on rude. She did not look at us once, she was curt and gave the impression that we were a really nasty inconvenience to her day. The rooms are functional rather than welcoming. They are clean and the bed was good. It was quiet on the 9th floor. If you are...

We like to stay at the Best Western Atlantis when we go to Melbourne for the weekend. The hotel is located close to Southern Cross station and you can catch a tram out the front of the hote. The staff are friendly and the rooms and clean and quiet. I would recommend this hotel.

I stayed here with a friend last weekend because I was in town for a concernt and my usual hotel close to Rod Laver arena lost my booking (yes Mantra on Jollimont I am looking at you!!). Whilst we were a bit away from where we ideally wanted to be the hotel itself was comfortable enough and was close to...

stayed here for over a week, and it was quite pleasant. The staff are always nice and helpful. It's near to pretty much anywhere in Melbourne. Close to Southern Cross station, which is a big plus. Tram stop is just outside. If you need a cab best to hail one from just outside the hotel, there is plenty driving past...

Stayed here for 4 nights during August and was overly pleased with my experience. Bed was comfy although an extra doona couldn't hurt. A sheet and bed cover wasn't quite enough for me. The bathroom was clean and quite modern, fresh bath towels, washers, soap, shampoo and conditioner each day, no hand towels I thought was a little strange. Bathroom...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
