Mercure Welcome Melbourne. Rooms are adequate, small for two adults. Services is good. At the time, only one lift was working for the 12 floor building, very inconvenient. Beds are good, sleep can be interrupted by occassional very early morning rubbish trucks, and the construction site opposite. Breakfast is good value. Location of hotel in Melbourne is the best feature.

I found the general location of the hotel very good, however the rooms were disappointing as you could hear the noise from the next door room particularly from the bathroom when water was running. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Staff were very helpful and the concierges were excellent with local information and advice. TV not working on arrival was promptly fixed and happy to accommodate a late check out. Location was central and perfect for a holiday as was close to main transport links to get out and about. As a Premier King room was disappointed with the size...

A mate and i stayed here when we went to see a band. Staff were helpful, our 'upgraded' room was still small and kinda dank. We didnt spend much time at all in it but the bed was fine, everything clean (bathroom starting to mold a bit), and its in a great location for the money. We put the TV...

Had a 7 night stay at the Mercure Welcome recently. The service provided by all the staff was excellent. The rooms are OK but tend toward the small side. Renovated bathrooms are great. The hotel has only one elevator in operation at the moment due to unpgrading which can cause considerable delays. The breakfast is value for money and the...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
