My wife and I stayed for 4 days , the location for us was ideal, central,to tram, rail and taxi's,shopping and of course China Town and all the wonderful food. Not to mention a very pleasant 20 minute walk to the mighty "G" [MCG],via River Side, for coffee or a light meal. The hotel rooms are well appointed, not up market but of a...

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a week primarily to go to the theatre. It is centrally located with plenty of access to transport , shopping and other activities. Given that we were there for seven nights were were disappointed in the size of the room, photos on the web made the room look larger. We contacted...

Great location, valet parking, excellent customer service. Close to everything in the CBD, shopping, theatres, restaurants - staff were very helpful and willing to assist with any questions we asked. Well worth it and relatively inexpensive for the location.

Amazing location, literally 1 minute away from the emporium, and beautiful view! We were so lucky to get a room on the 12th floor, because the night view was just stunning (picture below). The room wasn't too big or too small, perfect for a 3 night stay, perfectly clean and with the right temperature. Sad that the breakfast wasn't included....

We had a very pleasant stay at the Mecure Welcome Melbourne Hotel. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The location is absolutely perfect for those people who wish to be close to the best shops in the Bourke Street Mall area.

Stayed here for 2 nights on business. Great location and clean room. Staff were helpful, friendly and talkative. Breakfast was average buffet breakfast, if you have time, I would recommend taking a walk to a local cafe for breakfast, there's so many close by. Will stay here again for the location and staff.

I read mixed reviews on Trip Advisor and thought to myself how bad can a Mercure be. Boy, was I wrong! The room looked like a basement with exposed pipes and fire proof paint. There's no desk lamp and power sockets are not handily located. This place is probably OK for tourists who does not spend much time in the...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
