We stayed here from 18th to 23rd Nov 2016. Chancellor is extremely well situated, with very friendly staff, heated rooftop pool, gym, generous breakfast, nice ambiance restaurant. Around the corner is Her Majesty's Theater ... really great place to start exploring Melbourne. Room (807) was on the generous size, very clean and with very comfortable bed. Got a nice sleep...

Room on the 6th floor at the front of the hotel was a little noisy at night. The room it self I could not fault. The hotel is in an amazing location, so close to evrything from restaurants, night life, live theatres and my favourite Bar 1806. Transport system in melbourne is second to none. Staff at the Grand Chancellor...

The room was excellent, the hotel was beautiful and the amenities were great. It was a wonderful stay for a romantic trip. The bed was comfy and having a fridge was very helpful so we could keep any drinks or food we needed.

Great location close to everything. Needs A ramp for luggage not just steps for access to lobby. Staff friendly and helpful . Rooms could do with refurbish especially bathroom. Uncomfortable beds needs replacing. If these changes are made would be a great little hotel

Very friendly staff and the room was very clean with everything needed for a short stay. The hotel is close to live theatres and many places to eat, including a restaurant within the hotel itself. Transport facilities are nearby also.

Good service & location makes this a good choice if you are visiting Melbourne for business. The check in was easy and I felt very welcome. I didn't use the food or gym so can't comment on these services.

Wifi was horrible. We though we were getting a room with a nice bathroom but were greeted with a shower in the bathtub and not the room we thought we were getting. Staff were helpful and upgraded for our last night of stay however.

Our stay was okay. After being checked in to a room that someone else was staying in initially my expectations were lowered immensely. Had to keep all of our stuff packed up and hidden out of fear that someone might be given access to our room the way I was to theirs.

A pleasant stay at the hotel , but facilities a little dated and need renovation. The buffet breakfast was excellent as was the coffee. Staff were very helpful with directions, tram options and always willing to help.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
