Wonderful hotel in many ways. Exceptional staff, no fuss but polite and friendly in the Australian manner most international travellers appreciate. In an ideal central position in the city walking distance to theatres, parks, cafes and shopping. Ask for a room with an outlook.

The facilities, service and location make the Grand Hyatt our favourite Melb hotel. Price is up there but you do get what you pay for. We keep going back. If you can, try the King Club at least once!!

Stayed here with a friend and it was a really lovely hotel. Rooms were average size, but super comfy beds and great facilities. The staff were lovely and the location very central. Will be staying here again!

The Hyatt Grand is a great hotel. The decor and facilities are top class throughout. The breakfast in the morning was extremely generous and tasty. Only complaint was the speed of wifi connection. It was so slow that I ended up tethering my phone to my laptop and using the cell signal rather wifi. Given I needed to do work... More

We attended a dinner function last night thru the IPA National Congress at Grand Hyatt. The venue is good but a let down on the food. The entree of beef cheek is not good. It is sinewy and shouldn't have been served. The duck is so chewy and the skin is not even crispy. My husband didn't eat it at... More

I found the room quite small and not functional for business. There's no desk in the room, however, there is a small dinning table. Watch out for the 1.5% surcharge on MasterCard, not sure what it is if you use AMEX. They neglected to replenish both my mini bar and tea bags - It's not a major issue but when... More

Melbourne on any Saturday night is a busy place and parking can be a problem. If you simply walk into most restaurants you will probably be told that they are fully booked and get turned away. So it came as a surprise that we not only got a car park but we also had no problem getting a table for... More

The location, cleanliness, amenaties & decor of this hotel are great living up to its 5* rating. Sadly the service in the bar non existent, dissapointing for such a great hotel. Stay here often and unfortunately is a regular occurrence. Choose a local bar instead. Valet staff wonderful & friendly

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
