Booked Hotel Windsor just because. Loved the whole experience. The staff are fantastic as traditions are maintained. Silver service breakfast was a treat and nothing was too difficult. Right near tram and rail stations. Will be back.

We decided to visit Melbourne to celebrate my milestone birthday and booked three nights at the Windsor, having enjoyed three previous visits. We had a lovely stay, after a couple of glitches, which were resolved. There are so many good things about this hotel. The location, at the Paris end, is lovely. Situated opposite Parliament House, it just feels important....

There is a dusty, slightly faded glory around the Windsor Hotel. It is not badly in need of refurbishment, and while it could do with a bit of zhuzhing up around the lobby area and its rooms, there is a lovely air of warm and cordial graciousness here that I would hate to see it lose (I understand there will...

I would highly recommend staying at the beautiful, historic Hotel Windsor. The service is amazing, the staff are friendly and obliging. The rooms are absolutely exquisite. The service was wonderful. It was a wonderful start, staying at the Hotel Windsor, to commence our Great Ocean Road trip. Thank you to everyone at the Hotel Windsor, for making our stay so...

We stayed 4 nights and really enjoyed it. Grand old hotel with the usual quirky things like lower water pressure and slow to respond HVAC but not serious enough to override the great ambiance. The staff were excellent always anxious to assist and tend to our every need. Room was spacious and king sized bed very comfortable. (Suggest you request...

I go to the Hotel Windsor quite often when I'm in Melbourne, and let me tell you, the classical look of the building might put some off but the rooms are world class. If you do want a comfortable stay at a really amazing hotel, I would definitely recommend the hotel Windsor.

We felt all staff were welcoming and attentive, particularly in the Dining Room where the MaitreDe and our waiter Kevin remembered our dietary requirements. They ensured that each dining experience was perfection.

This is a difficult review as there were some hits and misses - luckily mostly hits except for the room and the check in counter staff member. Booked this hotel for 4 nights for my husband's birthday celebration - a deluxe double- almost $260 pn. Was a bit of a shock when we walked into the foyer - faded heritage...

The Windsor is usually very reliable and of a high standard. Again that was mostly the case, however this time the shower was close to unusable. The hot water pressure was very low and adjusting the cold had long delays before it came into effect. It was at the extremes of either too much cold or not enough, combined with...

We stayed here for a long weekend break and overall the hotel is good value. The plus points are: the customer service...staff were excellent..were always very attentive and greeted you with a smile...(apart from one grumpy barman in the Cricketers Bar), the location, being close to the Bourke St tram stop is great and easy to walk out of the...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
