Hey no complaints for the Ibus today. We arrived early and our room was ready. The busy young lady checked us in and gave us a room upgrade. Our lucky day she said with a smile. I love it when people are so busy and rushed but they don't let it get to them and they can still give fantastic...

Small but well appointed and clean, comfortable room. Very convenient -- short walk -- to Spencer Street Station. Would stay there again if using trains. Remarkably quiet room for the CBD. Close to restaurants and cafes.

I spent six nights here in early January. The hotel is a short walk (5 mins) from Southern Cross station and was a great base for my trips exploring the city and out into Victoria. On arrival, I had a letter from the manager welcoming me and asking things like what time I would like my room serviced. Like others,...

My room was a bit noisy. But location is very good, next to the south cross station where the skybus arrives. Good enough if you are on a budget. There are washing machines available. Breakfast is very expensive for what it gives but there are plenty of cafes and restaurants around.

Conveniently located close to Southern Cross Station, trams and a short walk to Bourke Street shopping precinct. The rooms aren't big but are very adequate with very comfortable beds and importantly, really good pillows. Breakfast only is available but there are also lots of great eating places nearby. As Accor Club members we only paid $124 a night, had free...

The friendly, helpful and efficient staff (Eleanor in this case) set the tone right from the start. Great location and clean room. Accor card was recognised and I enjoyed my complimentary welcome drink. Thanks, I'll book here first next time.

I stayed here for 3 nights for my little birthday trip. I was surprised when I got into the room. There was a birthday card, a box of chocolate, and balloons. They made the first day of my trip straight away. (I didn't expect because it's a budget hotel.) The staff at the reception were all friendly and nice. As...

I'm working on a project that has me in melbourne every week, so i'm sampling a lot of accommodation options. I left my booking late this week and so picked the Ibis from one of the few options left. $200 a night You are at the southern cross end of town, in a back st, the hotel is a budget...

Stayed 4 nights, great place and close to Southern Cross Station and Skybus. A few good eating places close by. Only problem was opening hours of roof terrace as closed most times. Room very clean and very comfortable bed. Could do with another chair in room as only 1 in my double room. TV should be in a museum I...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
