I was staying in a hotel on Lygon Street and was passing this hotel whilst walking towards the city centre, and popped in for a quick drink. Lovely oldy worldly bar. Great juice of beers, very friendly barman who gave us a map of the city, and suggested where we should visit. Made to feel very welcome, and stayed for...

This pub is quiet during the day, I found the staff friendly and they let me charge my iphone for a while. There is pool tables, video juke box and an electronic game machine. There is pizzas made to order and pies. I like this pub and will head back when back in Mel.

Unless you enjoy screaming drunks and thumping loud music until 3am every morning, then stay. If you find the feeling of bass pumping through your bed at 3am soothing then this is the place for you. No wonder they have free breakfast because no one is awake to eat it!! Plus on top of it the guy who owns the...

Stayed at the exford on thrice already which should tell you enough but here we go. Friendly and helpfull staf. Simple but clean rooms. Great bar and bottleshop downstairs. Big kitchen with plenty of space to cook and stock your supplies. Free complimentary breakfast in the mornings but if you're hungover chances are slim you'll make it on time ;)...

We stayed here for 3 nights and have to admit we missed breakfast every morning because we could not sleep before 3 or 4 AM everyday. There is a bar and a shop downstairs with a 7-11 on the street next doors which is the root cause of all the noise in this hostel. The facilities such as beds, washrooms,...

Stopped in for a beer and stayed for 12! Played a few games of pool and helped some ladies lose on the trivia machine. Bar staff were very friendly as were the security chaps who kindly directed us toward an excellent and very much needed kebab

For me, the Exford is just a place to flop. It's a simple place with simple amenities, so if you're expecting concierge, room service, satellite TV's in the rooms, bar fridges or anything along these lines, you'll need to look elsewhere. You'll get a comfortable bed, wardrobe if you book a double room, lockers if you book a dorm room,...

The staffs are nice. Roommate very friendly. Room a bit small and not the cleanest but the bathrooms are really clean. Personally will come back here with friends. Nice bar downstair. Will get a little bit noisy in the morning. No lift at all so just consider yourself warned. Free self-service breakfast until 9.30am.

My partner and I were visiting Melbourne and happened to catch a glance at the offer of free comedy for that night at the Exford Hotel. We were unsure how funny the comedians would be but we gave it a shot and had an absolutely amazing night :) The upstairs part of the hotel had a beautiful atmosphere with great...

Walking back from the casino to The Sofitel we called in for a beer. It was a nice, neat, and relaxing pub. Great selection of beers on tap and was nice and cold. Close to chinatown where we had lunch

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
