I found the lift very slow so this could be something to look at for the future. apart from this I had a good stay and found the location very central to what we needed. I would be happy to stay here again

Mantras are always pretty reliable. You know what you are going to get. Location is super fantastic right in the centre of the city. Great for business and shopping. We had a 2 bedroom loft apartment which was spacious, clean and comfortable. Beds were comfy and the room has all we need. We did have an issue with parking our...

We stayed in the urban basement room, very clean and staff were friendly and helpful, modern kitchen and lounge area however was not clearly advertised that in was down approximately 15 narrow stairs. Frustrating to have to carry any new purchases down the stairs after a long day of shopping. Bathroom needs updating and fan did not work. Patio area...

The location is a winner. So close to Bourke St mall and Chinatown. Also very handy to Flinders St railway station and Federation Square, the spots where your Melbourne tour would probably start. Service is prompt and efficient. If you have any problems with anything, its only a phone call away and most probably you will get your problems sorted.

Although an older building, it is in a great position. The apartment has a kitchenette, it is clean and we only stayed one night, so perfect for us. Close to public transport and Bourke st mall, and Chinatown.

The hotel is easy to find and close to transport. It is situated right in the centre of the CBD and very comfortable rooms. The staff are very helpful and was impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms and corridors.

Room nothing like the photos, it's dingy, dirty and dark. No free wifi as advertised, and there were feminine products left in the room from previous guests. Only bonus is fantastic location, right in the centre of the city.

There are lot better options in the area. Mantra City Central is definitely the worst option. It is well located but that's all. Apparently, I had the best room, a loft on the top floor, the small lounge room, tv and kitchen on the bottom and the bed and the bathroom on the top. So you can't watch tv if...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
