Could not find our Jetstar booking so probably put us in any room available. Overlooked Little Bourke St and heard every noise 24/7. Lounge and TV were positioned poorly and lounge only sat 2 people bolt upright. Hot water in shower was average... water sprayed on to roof from a leak in showerhead and wet area outside of shower and... More

I did a lot of research before finally selecting Mantra City Central. Of my search criteria were, location (and ease of public transport), price vs room offerings, other guest's reviews especially regarding cleanliness, water pressure, and other services. I have to say that of the 20 nights I spent in Australia, my 6 nights at Mantra City Central was the... More

Positives: The location is great. Rooms are of an ample size. Negatives: A staff member entered my room while the "do not disturb" sign was displayed. I received an email half way through my stay, telling me my card would be billed, even though I apparently hadn't arrived. (I had arrived and was checked in already.) The elevators were out... More

Hi MissBonnie2014, Thank you for sharing your feedback via TripAdvisor. Our apologies that a housekeeping team member entered (with a do not disturb sign) and can assure this has been followed up with our Executive Housekeeper. There was indeed a clerical error with your reservation and again our apologies for the disruption. Due to unforeseen circumstances our elevator was out... More

I only stayed overnight so can’t really comment on much. It’s so close to the Bourke St Mall! The room was clean and the bed and pillows were great. No street noise where I was on level 2. Really handy to restaurants. The only downer was the truck driver being snarky to our taxi when we were loading our luggage.

Quirky rooms with great views, very clean and the staff - all of them were welcoming at all times. The location was good right in the middle of the CBD. Quite nights sleep as well. Check in and check out was quick and no fuss.

I loved the room but had the worst sleep ever. Bed was good but room was not in any way soundproof. Street noise and loud music from somewhere kept me awake until 1 am, Other guests (I assume) talking loudly in the corridor kept me awake until 2 am. It was a Friday night, but I still needed to sleep.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
