We travelled as a family of 6, yes, it was a little crazy. So, we booked 3 rooms at Mercure, therry street and it was a good decision made. Holiday was taken during winter in August and there was a lovely night market at Queen Victoria market. Staying really close to Queen Victoria market (less than 5 mins walk) has... More

Stayed here on business for 1 night the room itself is comfortable and clean. The big turn off is that I slept with the window open as either there were lots of guests smoking in their rooms or the hotel needs to be thoroughly de smoked (if there is such a word). For this reason alone I will not stay... More

Stayed on business whilst in Melbourne. Great location, with easy access in and around the CBD. Rooms were adequate for a business traveler and reasonably priced. Doesn't have all the frills of a bigger hotel but everything I needed was within walking distance. Friendly check-in.

Mercure Therry St is a small hotel in the outskirts of the city. We had an absolutely horrible time at a different hotel and last minute organised to to stay at Mecure (by last minute I mean at 11pm). The staff there were so friendly, when we told them about what happened we got upgraded to the top floor with... More

We have stayed at this hotel for the past three years (as we visit Melbourne every year) and will continue to stay here in future. Location is great for the markets, especially great to go to the markets in the morning for a beautiful fresh breakfast. All busses heading into the centre of Melbourne stop almost right outside the hotel... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
