Very inexpensive and right in the heart of Melbourne. Walking and tram distance to everything. Comfortable room just the basics bed tv bathroom. Very quiet, 24hr helpful receptionist. Highly recommend when on a budget. Close to the trendy flinders lane for dinner dining.

This is an Ex Formule One Accor Hotel recently branded Ibis Budget. The hotel is a rabbit warren of corridors and all in need of a coat of paint as indeed was the room. It was however tidy and the bedding clean. Breakfast was continental and help yourself. It was clearly popular with young Asian tour Groups. It is well...

I stayed here with my wife and daughter in October 2013. It was really nice experience. Staffs are friendly and helpful. The hotel is just couple of minutes away from every attraction that Melbourne CBD has to offer. I'd recommend it highly.

Good value for money, the hotel was very close to the train station and only a short stroll to the mall. The room itself was small, but comfortable and very clean. On a small negative note, there were construction works going on outside the hotel at the time of our stay, so the noise from construction woke us early each...

I had to go to Melbourne for a job interview and I stayed here for two nights. I found it clean, comfortable and the staff great. The hotel had everything that I needed, including coat hangers in my room and an ironing board down stairs. The location was near the shopping and over the road from The Block. I would...

I like the location of this hotel ie a short stroll from the Federal Square and the Flinders Station! The service of the staffs there was good. I will definitely return to this hotel and recommend others to do so too. Thank you for giving me and my family such a fantastic time there in Melbourne. On a side note,...

I have to say I quite liked this hotel. Look, it's cheap BUT it is very central and I must say that I found it very quiet and pretty well cared for. The rooms are small, basic but cleaned daily. The bathrooms are tiny, but also clean and there was plenty of hot water. If you want somewhere fancy, look...

The good points for the Ibis. Great location, trams, shopping, restaurants all within walking distance. Staff very friendly and helpful. The room I first checked in the heater wasn't working, I was quickly moved to another room without any hassle. Evening security is great, there is a security guard at the front door checking that you are staying at the...

This is a very honest hotel; it is budget accommodation and doesn't pretend to be anything else. The rooms are one step above a backpackers but with the benefit of your own miniature bathroom. You might even get to discover how much fun bunk beds are, in case you hadn't used one for a while. The location is brilliant. If...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
