The Murray Hotel is the smallest, family run 3 1/2 star property in Perth with excellent customer service and a "home away from home" vibe. The hotel is walking distance to Kings Park, Perth Arena, Subiaco Oval and Leederville. It's an excellent location for self-drive guests as the hotel has free parking and is positioned just off the freeway exit. The hotel is great for overnight or short 2 to 4-night breaks in Perth for both the corporate guest and families. There is a free yellow CAT bus right outside the front door taking guests into the CBD, Elizabeth Quay and city shopping districts. It's the only hotel in Perth that offers a complimentary breakfast!

Am a repeat retun customer to The Murray. Sadly on this occasion there has been a noisy guest above us, already staying here at the time of our arrival. I had less than an hour to rest after driving 6 hours, before needing to head out to an event. There was loud thumping above us, someone running and jumping on the floor above. Then banging and shouting. This went on for 40 mins before I called the manager. There was no answer. So I dialled 9 and waited, and waited. Finally spoke with someone who told me they couldn't do anything unless we knew the EXACT room number. I'm not sure how we're supposed to do that when it's ABOVE us. And then the lady told me that it sounded like the noise was 'coming from common areas' which they "can't do anything about". It doesn't matter if someone is standing in the stairwell. It's still their hotel! As I explained to the lady, I have 3 children in the room WITH me who aren't making a sound to disturb anyone else. I've always stayed here with my children and we walk quietly & don't disrupt anyone else And then a man stood outside our door and had a really loud conversation on his mobile phone. Left for our event. Went to bed at midnight. Was woken this morning by loud banging. Banging, banging, banging above us. This went on so long it infiltrated my dream I was trying to have as I drifted in and out of 'sleep'. After at least an hr of listening, lifted my sleep mask to check the time. 7am. Now there's loud metallic banging in the stairwell. Combined with the fact The Murray has inexplicably not reopened it's kitchen/dinning room since Covid arrived, despite there being no Coivd in WA, I'd say after 10 or more years of returning here, I don't envisage coming back. I still have another day/night to get through.

Apsoloutely discusting. No reception, no security, had to call the police about all the noise. Kept our baby awake nearly all night. The photos you have of the hotel are mostly a complete and utter lie. No continental breakfast, the pool area looks nothing like your photos. Found drugs on the stairs, kids playing music all night. Asked them to turn it down and got back abusive language being called a FKn C. People playing knock and run on our doors, and not just mine. Somone trying to sell us bottles of rum he didn’t want. An adult male as my kids looked out window to go for a swim, I said no because they were urinating in the pool. No microwave in the room and The TV aerial obviously needs upgrading as the kids couldn’t watch TV because it kept freezing. Had to Park our car down the street as we had no parking. Very disappointed, and could not waitron get out of there. Never ever would I stay here again or recommend it.

My daughter had surgery near Kings Park so this hotel was perfect location. I have stayed here before, so knew what to expect. It was quiet due to borders being closed, breakfast is now in the room which consists of several cereals, 2 litre milk in fridge and bottle of orange juice. They have glasses, coffee cups and dinner plates with cutlery. There is a microwave with instructions of location in the room. This is temporary having breakfast in the room but not sure for how long. There is limited parking at the front and if you can reverse into the bay , the easier it is to exit. There is a carpark at the back which you need to drive into from the street behind. You can’t access it from the front of hotel. Bathrooms are small so if sitting on toilet you have the basin about 60cms in front of you. But it was clean , just like the rest of the hotel room. If you’re arriving after 1pm you will need a 4 digit code from hotel to access the lockbox to retrieve your room key. Definitely would stay here again. Thank you for making our stay comfortable.

So hard to find accommodation affordable and close to the hospital. This was also the only hotel in Perth that had their own parking area and you did not have to pay any extra for parking. I organised this hotel for my in laws to stay in after all of my inquiry about stairs. Kathleen was so helpfull and really understanding . Also breakfast was included and the dinners are really affordable.ie most meals are around $15.00. Not a huge variety but everything is homemade and tasty. For breakfast you have a continental choice , with a pancake machine for fresh hot pancakes. Happy hour from 5 to 6 everyday with complementary drinks. Has a self check in as well. The best value hotel in Perth.

Absolutely Disgusting Hotel My mother inlaw aged 71 and her good friend aged 75 years stayed here for one evening 30th November 2019. I am absolutely disgusted. 1) Poor Parking - limited spaces 2) On arrival no reception at all & key given in a box after you place your details into the box. No staff present from 2pm onwards anywhere. 3) No Elevators - STEEP STAIRS to Top Floor . Not acceptable with a major heart condition. (ROOM 41) 4) The room didn't appear as photographed online. 5) Pamphlet stated, refurbished rooms but no way as it was poor state. 6) Bathroom, was disgusting - Refused to shower in a mouldy bathroom. Thank goodness I showered before leaving home. 7) No amenities for Bathroom Use - Soap was low but very POOR. 8) Toilet was standard as were towels only 1 Towel though in bathroom , floors etc 9) Air Conditioner was Fine! 10) Requested 2 x Single Beds but was not on arrival had to share the bed and slept on top of the bed. Only managed 1 hours sleep due to uncomfortable feeling, cleanliness etc Bed Lumpy, Uncomfortable! 11) Felt Unsafe, Could hear many people in corridor making loud noises except no one to complain too as reception unattended at all times. 12) One guest abused my mother inlaw, unacceptable with no security or staff present.

Response from murrayhotel, Owner at The Murray Hotel Perth
Responded 2 Dec 2019
I'm so sorry that your Mother in Law and her friend didn't enjoy their stay. I'll address all your points but it's a bit tricky as this review is from you, who didn't stay in the hotel and from comments made by your Mother in Law to you. 1. We have lots of parking at the front and rear of the hotel. There is signage but perhaps they missed all the parking at the rear of the hotel? 2. The hotel staff serve breakfast from 7am to 11am and are there for all guest needs and for free guest drinks hour and dinner from 5pm to 8pm. At other times housekeepers are at the hotel and we have a 24 hour check in machine which makes it easy for guests to get their room key or a new key if they need. 3. Yes we have no elevator. We are very clear about this in our marketing and when people ring up to book. If your Mother in Law had booked direct we would have allocated her a room on the ground floor. If your Mother in Law had called the number given that links to the owner or talked to the staff then we would have moved them to a lower floor on arrival. 4. The pictures on our website are exactly how our rooms look. We are very honest in our advertising as we want guests to have exactly what they pay for. We are a very inexpensive hotel with free breakfast, free parking, free WiFi and free guest drinks hour. 5. The rooms are clean, comfortable and in good repair. We are one of the cheapest hotels in Perth. We are not 5 star! 6. If you had a problem with our cleanliness all you needed to do was talk to one of our helpful staff. Our cleaners pride themselves on their work so I am very surprised by this comment and sad your Mother in Law couldn't enjoy her stay. 7. There are amenities in the bathrooms. We provide a dispenser that is body wash, shampoo and conditioner all in one. We don't do the little plastic bottles as it's not environmentally friendly. 8. Yes there is only 1 towel in the bathroom, all the other towels are on the rack outside the bathroom. 9. Yes the air conditioning is good! 10. If 2 single beds was requested and not made up then why didn't you ask the staff? They would have fixed it in minutes. Sometimes when a third party online booking is made we don't get all the information. 11. The owners are on call 24/7. If there is noise or a disturbance they sort it out within minutes. There is a number in your room to call and if you had done so we would have sorted it out. People do make noise in hotels but it doesn't mean it's unsafe. 12. If there are guests in the hotel who are abusive they are thrown out straight away. The majority of our guests are repeat customers and very lovely people who stay with us often and enjoy our pricing and service. Thank you for your comments and please send my regrets to your Mother in Law. I've been at the hotel every day and she didn't speak to me so I'm sorry I missed her and sorry that she didn't talk to us so we could make her stay enjoyable.
