Novotel Perth Murray Street is often considered a good value by guests, especially when special deals are available, although there are some concerns about unexpected costs. The hotel's atmosphere is frequently described as stylish and welcoming, with clean and modern rooms that satisfy many travelers.
While the service can be hit or miss, ranging from commendable to lackluster, the amenities, including a pool and convenient location near the CBD and attractions, are typically well-received. Nevertheless, while the rooms are generally comfortable, noise and occasional cleanliness issues have been noted.

Detailed Reviews
As an Accor member I always appreciate staying at Accor hotels across Australia for their member benefits and high hotel standards. Usually you can get 2 for 1 meals although this one only served breakfast. The room was predictably comfortable, clean and well appointed. The bed was also very comfortable. There was a nice pool although not enough shade in the heat of the day. The gym was also good. We had a fantastic view on the 25th floor with a birds eye view over the city. The lifts were fast and frequent.
The staff were super helpful and friendly which is always nice when you arrive in a new place.
On the downside:
1) the breakfast was not great: the peaches were off, there was no honey and the barista coffee was cold. We mostly breakfasted eslewhere after that experience.
2) there were no newspapers available
3) the parking was very expensive if you had a hire car
4) the TV was awful: only local stations full of adds, no Netflix or Foxtel that we are used to in hotel stays
5) the decor in reception and the breakfast room is very nondescript and uninspiring. The walls of pottery items in the breakfast rooms seemed pointless, except for dividing space.

Excellent staff, helpful and welcoming. Contemporary hotel, great breakfast buffet and bright clean room.
Our room had a safe, a large flat screen TV, but only a single chair at the small occasional table and no drinks in the minibar.
We had a large shower cubicle, but many of the shower jets were blocked with calcium buildup

On arrival at Perth airport, I was advised that I would quarantine at the Novotel, my previous quarantine was at the Intercontinental and it was dreadful! So, for sure I was concerned if the 5 Star Intercon experience was bad what had the Novotel in store for me!
Albeit the rooms were smaller than the Intercon, the standard of service and the amazing staff made what can be a difficult situation bearable.
Food was one of the biggest differences at the Intercon, no menus, no choices, take it or leave it…they get paid anyway. Food whatever it may have been was invariably less than warm
At the Novotel, in the breakfast bag, was a menu for the next day, with options for each main meal. Around 10am, a call from friendly Reception would ask by our name how we were doing etc, and what did we want to eat the next day. Special requests such as extra bread, different cereals, fruit easily and friendly handled.
A further call was received daily from Housekeeping asking if we need any fresh supplies, linen, towels, coffee, sugar etc.
The Intercon was stocked up on arrival, and reflected their emphasis on little or no contact, by phone or otherwise with its “guests”.
Additions like Press Reader giving free access to Newspapers and Magazine was a thoughtful and practical innovation.
Check out again unlike the Intercon, was amazingly organized, with very speedy processing. Assistance with Baggage trolley and transport was offered. Staggered “releases” meant no mad rush to the lifts and the process desks.
So, all in all, a way better than expected experience…...
Only minor niggle, I feel Accor Member should have earned points during the stay!!

We were very unlucky to be placed in this hotel for our 14 days compulsory quarantine. The staff is rude, uninformed and with bad manners. They ask us to check in the TV screen menu the info about arrivals and departures for new quarantine guests (so we avoid ordering/requesting things at those times) and the info in there is not up to date! The food we order from Uber Eats takes ages to come upstairs. They say they can’t use the lifts as they are “contaminated” with the people leaving the hotel. Aren’t those people supposed to be covid free? If not, how can they be leaving the hotel then?? The carpet smells and so does the curtain. When I requested a vacuum to clean myself they said they can’t and they asked me to buy one from Walmart and have it delivered to the hotel (really?). How can they expect us to be “healthy” in a small room that has no ventilation, no windows and we can’t even clean! Altogether it has been dreadful. Not only do we feel in a prison (anxiety and depression levels to the roof, plus food is not good) but we are with rude and lack of knowledge staff! For this type of job the staff needs to be compassionate and has empathy as the whole quarantine process when you are returning to your home from a 2 day overseas trip is already horrible, and this Hotel lack of that type of staff!

Response from Ana Royal, General Manager at Novotel Perth Murray Street
Responded 20 Dec 2020
Dear Jv M, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am very disappointed to hear your comments about the service provided by the team. Up until your review, we have received largely positive feedback about our team who are doing everything they can to look after our guests who are staying with us under extremely challenging circumstances. I am sorry that your experience did not reflect this same level of care. Due to strict infection control protocols, unfortunately there are limitations to the services we are able to provide, this includes provision of vacuum cleaners and a strict control of deliveries, especially during large movements of both arrivals and departures. These safety protocols are designed to ensure we keep our staff, guests and the community safe. We do try to communicate this using the TV system however I will share you comments to reiterate the importance of maintaining this with up to date information. I am very sorry that your experience was not at the level we have come to expect and I will share your comments as a reminder for the team to remind them of the importance of being consistent with the level of care we offer all our guests. Kind regards, Ana Royal Hotel Manager

We stayed at your beautiful hotel as Cunard's guests. It was certainly the last thing we expected to do last week. Our plan had been to be sailing into an adventure to Africa and UK.
However, that was not to be due the impact of COVID-19. Instead we headed home to Sydney with a number of good memories thanks to your dedicated and committed staff. The guest relations, food & beverage and housekeeping team rose to the challenge of checking in and looking after hundreds of weary guests over the three days we were there.
We want to mention, in particular Jessica Lombardo, who we had daily dealings with through the hotel restaurant and room service option, and whose manner and positive approach to service was exemplary. Her genuine sense of wanting to make our stay one we would remember because of good service, was a silver lining that really helped to dissipate the disappointment of a cancelled voyage to Southampton. Please convey to her our gratitude.
All in all, there are so many positives to report on (including the central location, comfortable room with Google Chromecast to watch our own Netflix movies, nice pool area and gym, and the wonderful room-service menu), and we will be sure to recommend your hotel to our family and friends. While we only resort to room service as a last resort, we were very surprised by the quality of the dishes, especially the wagyu rump steak. We also enjoyed being able to dine at the other Accor restaurants and charging back to our room account. We enjoyed a couple of meals at the chic poolside Hyde Perth Kitchen within The Adnate hotel across the road.
Thank you for all your staff did to divert our attention from sadness and to offer instead positive and life-giving experiences.
Best wishes for your official opening in April 2020.

I'm writing this as I'm finishing my 14 day quarantine journey at the Novotel on Murray.
I can't fault anything about the quarantine experience at Novotel on Murray because any issues or questions that I have had, a simple call to the reception team is all it required for the issue or question to be resolved.
The room hosts a wall of windows, a great day lounge, huge TV with Chromecast, a large very comfortable bed accompanied by a spacious clothes storage space and beautiful bathroom with a lovely waterfall shower.
The food choices were excellent and any additional sauces ect were very easy to ask for if required.
A standout experience in a beautiful hotel with excellent staff in a stressful time.
Well done, Novotel on Murray.

We have just completed our hotel quarantine at Novotel. We were dreading it but we’re pleasantly surprised. We had the option to upgrade to an interconnecting family room which made our time with a baby easier it was well worth the money and one of the nicest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. I’m a fussy eater but the food was beautiful and the staff who called to take our orders were so accomodating with the baby and sent up fresh puréed fruit and veg each day. There is nothing I could fault about the rooms or the staff, we would weirdly come back here for a holiday. Thank you so much!!

Location is good. However with free CAT buses that run through Perth Station, most hotels have good location as long as it is near a CAT bus station.
Service is a big let down. Check in was tedious. Being served by a newbie, was being questioned with a series of textbook small talk questions that was stressing both of us out.
After all the tiring process, hoping to have a good shower and rest. To our horror, in the midst of the shower, realized the shower gel has not been replenished. Called housekeeping with nobody picking up, called reception three times, with one personal visit at the reception, after an hour, to get the shower gel replenished by a gleeful housekeeper, the reception manager gave us one drink coupon for the inconvenience.
I do not need the drink coupon but I did expect a small gesture to wish me happy birthday as I did specify that this trip was to celebrate my birthday. Nothing.. My first birthday hotel stay that is so disappointing.
Daily house keeping is generally clean but awfully inconsistent. Everyday coming back to the hotel room, is like looking forward to a surprise, it could be pleasant, it could be bleh..
Room is tiny. But that is fine if you are out most of the time. Wall is quite thin. Can hear beeping sound from next room. Or when you have a noisy neighbor, that will be quite a headache.
Will I be back again? Highly unlikely.
Will i recommend to my friends? Definitely not.

Large modern rooms, nice bathroom, great location, nice bar. But the consistently poor service really soured the experience for us. Our family group of four stayed in a suite and an executive room for a special birthday celebration holiday, with plans to use the kitchenette in the suite for all of us to prepare breakfast each morning. We didn't expect a fully kitted kitchen, just some facilities for some basic breakfast preparation. The kitchenette had a microwave, and nothing else. No cutlery, no crockery, no basic utensils. When my mother (staying in the suite) raised this with staff, she was told that, "the kitchenette is for show really" and that if we wanted a set of plates/cutlery we would need to pay $5! We were in the two highest classes of rooms in the hotel! Nevertheless, we had to ask four different staff members over a period of another full day to even get some bowls/cutlery- the first three staff never followed up on our request. Our first morning we ate breakfast out of paper bowls we purchased from the supermarket!!!!
Room service was inconsistent, we needed to leave notes to make sure the empty soap dispensers were filled and coffee etc. replaced. We counted another room on our floor's dirty room service plates sit out on the corridor for three days!
As an accorr member, we requested a late checkout (1pm), our room keys were disabled at 11am (numerous trips to front desk again required to rectify this).
And on checkout they attempted to charge over $200 extra for our stay (we had only charged some coffees to our rooms). Turns out they had not applied my accorr points I was using for a discount to the room rates.
Pool bar wasn't seen to be open once in our seven day stay, and function room(?) next to gym/pool had dirty glasses full of mould sitting on bench for most of our stay- noticed when accessing the pool each day.
The place is a disaster. Either the staff haven't been trained properly or they just don't care. Such a shame as the building, rooms and location are great. But constantly having to request the basics from staff and deal with their mistakes does not make for a relaxing stay.

Our overnight stay at this band new hotel was a great introduction for us to Perth. The hotel was so new during our visit that some of its facilities had not officially opened yet. No bother to us as there were plenty of restaurants to choose from within walking distance.
The woman at the front desk was welcoming (I'm sorry I don't remember her name), and she was kind enough to assist us when we asked to change rooms when the first room we were given had an unusual odor. Our second room was great - clean, quiet, and comfortable. Everything we needed for our overnight stay before an early international flight the next morning.
I only wish we had more time here, as we would have loved to have seen more of Perth. We did take a walk that evening over to the Fringe Festival, and it was a short ride via Uber from the hotel to the airport the next morning. We'd love to stay here again if we make it back to Perth.
