We live in Perth it’s a stunning city and as travelling is very restricted what a better way than enjoying our home city, the hotel is on the beautiful Swan River at the city’s edge minutes from the city retail precinct , public transport to everywhere, boat trips at your doorstep , the pool is on the outside of the hotel with all the river views as is the 18 floor rooftop bar , superb views
We had a very positive experience re our credit card change a few days before arriving. In that same call we were offered a very early check when enquiring if we could leave our bags there early. On arrival we were given great service at check in, the early check in as promised and moved to a better room. The views were amazing and we loved the room. During the stay we were given an anniversary bottle of wine, had great service at all dining and drinking venues. We will definitely be back to stay at this hotel.
Look to cut a long one short, I was expecting a whole lot more, stated to become frustrated with the lack of communication and "out of stock" items - with the explanation basically replying with, this is all we have, sorry you have different items to what we advertised in our media. Dont order the mini bar package, as its overrated, and your better off walking to cellarbrations on Hay street to grab your drinks, becuase they charge like a wounded dog! Several wrong entries including approximately 7 incorrect charges, I felt a little worried to recommend to my database of clientele. Overall a 2.5 out of 6. Suite Life Group rating. 08/02/2022. Ashley at Concierge was amazing though, so thank you Ashley. kind regards
The Hotel was amazing, and we loved our 3 week stay here. The rooms are beautifully appointed with stunning views over Perth and the Swan River. The location is the best in Perth. The Staff were ALL excellent, from Manager Ritish, who looked after us very well, and everyone at Reception. No request was to big or too small. Thank you. The rooms are cleaned to a 100% standard, and room service was very good too. Breakfast very good, also roof top bar and restaurant was amazing. We normally stay at The Crown, but will only return here when next in Perth. We loved our stay here. Thank you to all at DT Hilton Barrack Street, Perth. Brenda and Chris
The room: We paid extra for a large corner river view room and enjoyed the extra space and expansive views from level 10. There was a lot of late night noise from the adjacent ground floor outdoor bar and restaurant. The large bath provided a great soaking experience and the separate shower enclosure included a ceiling mounted rainfall shower head. The wet area is reasonably spacious for a hotel bathroom. There’s an un-stocked fridge which we filled with our own purchases from local wineries. Instant coffee sachets really don’t cut it (a Nespresso would have been welcome) and the fixed (or just heavy?) large, curved desk was oddly placed in the room, as were the sofas, tub chair and side table. It seemed to me that furnishing this wonderful space was an afterthought. The king bed was large and comfortable, and there are 2 tv screens - one facing the bed and one on the sitting area. (3.5/5) The food and beverage: Breakfast was the usual fare, and although there are 2 self-service coffee machines available, only one was in operation on each day of our three day stay, leading to queues for coffee. The self service breakfast area (cereals, juice, toast and coffee) seemed cramped and quite inefficient in its layout. Hot items included the usual grilled tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms, hash browns, bacon and sausages, scrambled eggs and pork buns, but was missing poached eggs on one morning. Lunch and drinks at 18 Knots was adequate (food arrived promptly and drinks were readily available), but it was a slow day and there was no pressure on the seemingly bored staff. The wrap around outdoor balcony is narrow, with some small tables, benches and stools, and conveniently shielded from the afternoon breeze by a 2 metre high glass wall. Room service on our first night was weird. No one would answer the room service phone number when I called. I eventually used the phone in the lift lobby. The food arrived in a reasonable time and my Caesar salad was well presented and tasty - it hit the spot. (3.5/5) Facilities: The pool was popular among guests, although we didn’t use it. There’s an attached bar and some limited lounging and seating options. The gym has all the usual - free weights, treadmills, etc., with extra towels, a water cooler & cups and sanitising wipes available. It overlooks the river on level 5 and is a great workout space. The treadmills are modern and well maintained. There are three lifts, although most of the time only two were in operation - which made for some congestion at peak times. Free wifi was available and worked mostly seamlessly. Housekeeping is on a ‘request’ basis, apparently due to Covid. My tip - ask for daily serving, if that is what you want, when you check in. Housekeeping staff were the most engaging of all the hotel staff we encountered during our stay, and made up the room while we were out sightseeing during our stay. However, our room did not appear to have been vacuumed prior to our arrival. (3.5-4/5) Check-in, check-out: check out is noon, which is quite generous and great for tourists, but the downside is that check-in starts at 3.00 pm. We arrived early at about 1.20 pm (due to our flight) and waited over an hour for our room. We had to cancel half of our planned six day stay due to the changing Covid rules in our home state and airline flight cancellations, and pleased that we were able to cancel the ‘unused’ nights without charge. (4/5) Location: Perfect. Near a train station and tourist ferries/boats, a short walk to Hay Street Mall, restaurants and nearby bars. (5/5)…
