Nestled near city attractions, Hyatt Regency Perth is often lauded for its comfortable rooms, clean environment, and a relaxing pool area, though some guests feel the decor could use an update. While the spaciousness and comfort of the rooms earn appreciation, travelers have voiced concerns about the hotel feeling dated and the presence of noise disturbances.
Service quality seems to be a hit or miss, with some describing it as outstanding while others encounter issues. Additional fees, such as parking, have led many to question the hotel's overall value.

Detailed Reviews
We last visited Perth in 2013 as part of a big trip around Aus and NZ. A different so called 5* Hotel proved very disappointing so for our return we had a toss up between here and the Intercontinental (The Ritz Carlton was not open at booking time). We wanted a River view room but were told in Sept 2019 for our visit Jan 2020 that there were no rooms but we could have a suite with Club/Lounge access. Not aware it was Chinese New Year as well as Australia Day which we did know of. The Hotel would know all these factors but clearly had either not catered or just have poor staff.
No staff on arrival to take bags and a 10 minute wait to Check In got us off to a good start. When I commented the rather curt response was "It is a Bank Holiday you know".
The Hotel is an Architect's scheme, not an Operator's, vast areas on each floor of soulless space, not wall relief with pictures and so on just vast carpet of a size to suit 5 a-side soccer or basketball - unwelcoming and disorienting.
Our Suite was large but spartan with little drawer space and badly positioned sockets, when we could find them, for small power equipment. Then the absolute clincher, a notice pledging the Hotel to the environment resulting in new bedding every 3 days and towels the same. In 35 C heat!, your joking. In fairness after comment about the towels that changed.
So to Dinner, a complete free for all Buffet with the ambience of a factory canteen and staff struggling to keep pace. Food average and drinks in the wrong size glass.
Breakfast in the Club/Lounge, ok but bang average surroundings and cramped. A note in our room said Breakfast in the Club Saturday and Sunday so Monday we returned to the canteen only to be told we should be in the Club, pointing out the message in our room was met with a shrug.
The Atrium area is nice, pleasant and calm so we ate dinner our next two nights there, many outside restaurants being closed. Steak nice but don't go in hungry or you will be ravenous by the time the meal arrives. A Bar tender who knew his stuff but frequently off on other things leaving staff who were clearly untrained and who's best attribute seemed to be apologising for the service, at least they did. A lunch time drink attracted a staggering 10% surcharge due to Bank Holiday, presumably to pay overtime, this from a hotel open 365 days! Mention must have been made as by evening the charge had been removed.
All in all not the best start to our time in Aus, had I known I would have picked the Intercontinental or Ritz Carlton if I had known it was opening.
Finally on check out I was asked if we had enjoyed our stay. I replied it could have been better and the Hotel in my view was not 5*. No further attempt to investigate my comment simply a typical shrug of the shoulders, "Have a nice day, bye".
This Hotel will loose out to other, better competition, another facility is already under construction. Quite frankly it will deserve all it gets.

Dear ROGER O Thank you for posting your detailed review following your recent visit. It was, however, extremely concerning to read that we fell far short of your expectations in several areas and I sincerely apologise for the disappointing experience and poor impression made. I would assure you that your visit as described is a definite deviation from the standards that we as a team strive to achieve. Customer service is also my topmost priority and key focus and your feedback has already been shared with the relevant department heads for their urgent review and refresher training provided to their teams accordingly. We thank you again for your feedback and hope that despite your experience on this occasion you would consider staying with us again; if I can be of any assistance to you, please do let me know Best regards Ribhu Chatterjee

Ticks all the boxes if one is looking for an hotel which is large with very spacious public areas, has all expected first rate facilities including an oval shaped heated outdoor 30 metre pool, massive central atrium, excellent well equipped rooms, basement parking at only AUD30 per day multiple entries. I found the restaurants good and the menus offer a good choice. Food well presented. Initial greeting from concierge, followed by friendly and happy reception. Hotel has club rooms available which give access to the club floor which serves free snacks and drinks. Taxi rank and bus stop right outside hotel. Perth busses are free in CBD. All buses looked brand new so even if you are an executive type you won't feel I'll at ease!.. Hotel in upmarket area on outskirts of central CBD. One can safely walk to the centre of the CBD in less than 20 minutes but Perth can be hot.

Stay here quite a bit when travelling to Perth, always friendly staff, room always clean, comfortable bed, decent iron and hairdryer which I always use. Usually get a great price booking in their website so I can get breakfast included. Enough room to park my 4WD if I don’t get there too late in the evening and parking spots are already full. We catch the free buses at the front of the hotel right into the city if we don’t feel like walking or paying the exorbitant parking prices in the city. Always a great stay, the hotel staff, the beautiful lobby, awesome pool and decent room price make this place my favourite in Perth.

Stayed here recently for a few days and had a pleasant stay. The hotel is a little dated and the rooms could do with a small refurbishment, however the staff are nice. Some housekeeping issues regarding my initial room popped up, but as I checked in late around midnight, I only got to resolve it the next day after speaking to Ric and Marouf, the housekeeping and rooms managers. The new room was better and the club lounge was ok but disappointing in terms of their offering during the day and their dress code policy inconsistency allowing some in flip flops and others not etc. The breakfast at the cafe downstairs was the best however, with lovely friendly staff and good service. The one waitress (from Philippines I think) was excellent, as well as Raj the chef from Nepal who went out of his way to assist! Thanks guys!

Dear aroundtheworld247365 Thank you for posting your review following your recent visit. It was very pleasing to read that overall you enjoyed the time you spent with us, however your comments regarding the housekeeping issues and Regency Club Lounge offerings are duly noted and I do apologise for any inconvenience caused, especially in having to move rooms. Our dress code for the Lounge should also be applied consistently and it was therefore disappointing to note this was not the case; this has been shared with the relevant department head for them to follow up accordingly. We also very much appreciate the special mention made of some of our team, rest assured your feedback will be further shared with them. We look forward to welcoming you again in the not too distant future and if I can be of assistance, please do let me know. Best regards Ribhu Chatterjee

Stayed here for a nights ‘staycation’ with my husband. Paid via Expedia/flybuys before I arrived. When checking in, the front office staff serving us had a badge that said he was under training. No worries.
It would have been nice for the other staff to actually help him. As it took about 20 mins for us to check in (no other customers) and the staff member said he needed to take a pre-authorisation (standard procedure) however I did a double take when I saw how much it was ($243). I questioned why it was so high and he said the room cost plus the pre-authorisation of $50. I informed him I’d already paid for the room, and he cancelled it and re-did the pre authorisation of $50. However, it is 11 days later and the money ($293) is still not available in my account. It still says pending.
After finalising checkin, we were given a free bottle of wine and were informed that’s it was a quarantine hotel and did we have a problem with it. Bit late now hey?
Got to our room, rooms are lovely and clean. Only one bathrobe though (didn’t matter too much as we weren’t needing them).
Husband called for a bucket of ice for the wine we were given(warm). 45 minutes later we hadn’t received it so called again. After another half hour we still hadn’t received it so thought we would go check out the pool while we waited for ice. Pool is massive, heated and plenty of sun lounges.
Swam for awhile and headed back to our room, ice never arrived.
Next morning we went down to breakfast, as we knew it was included. They gave us the bill and we explained we were told it was included in our room rate. The waiter said no we only get a $30 credit and we needed to pay the rest at reception when we checked out. We went over to reception to check out and told the staff member about the bill. She said no, breakfast was fully included and waved down a waiter to close the bill. Thankfully.
The hotel itself is very nice and the facilities are good but the staff let it down. They seem to not be able to communicate with each other and I’m still waiting for my money to be available in my account. Not sure I will return for awhile.

Dear BerniV91 Thank you for posting your detailed review, your feedback is greatly appreciated. Whilst pleasing to note that you enjoyed our hotel and facilities, it was very disappointing that we fell short in terms of the level of service provided, and I sincerely apologise for all the issues experienced. Rest assured that your feedback has been shared with all the relevant department heads and changes have already been implemented to ensure improvements are made in the areas highlighted. Thanks for also separately contacting the hotel so that we could assist in resolving the pre-authorisation amount pending on your account. I am sorry that you were not aware that the hotel is under requisition by the WA Department of Health (WADOH) and is accommodating returning international guests required to do 14 day mandatory hotel quarantine. By way of an exemption waiver issued to us by WADOH, we are also able to safely accommodate non-quarantine guests on separate floors as well as operate our function space and Conservatory Lobby Lounge, all of whom/which are serviced from a separate area of the hotel and by a separate team of colleagues. With the aim of being completely transparent, we have ensured that mention of our current status is included on our website for those booking online as well as being verbally advised by our reservations team for those guests booking over the telephone; this information has also been provided to all third party websites/agents who make reservations with us on behalf of their clients. This action was taken to ensure that all potential guests were fully aware of our status so that armed with this knowledge, they could then make the decision to continue with their reservation or not. Our records show that you made a same day booking via a third party and whilst an email would have been sent advising you of our status, I appreciate you may not have received it in good time prior to checking in. We thank you once again for your feedback and hope you will choose to stay with us again some time. If I can be of any assistance to you, please let me know. Best regards Ribhu Chatterjee

I am here in quarantine for two weeks.
The toilet in my hotel room at the Hyatt Regency is not flushing properly.
Maintenance can’t come in while I’m in quarantine, so they have put in a request with the government department for me to move hotel rooms, apparently approval can take up to 24 hours.
In the meantime they have given me a bucket !.🙄

Dear Andrew G Thank you for posting your review regarding the issues you have encountered regarding the toilet; and we certainly apologise for the inconvenience this is causing which we acknowledge is far from ideal. As you have highlighted, per government protocols, a request was immediately sent to the WA Department of Health (WADOH) to organise a room move for you. This was subsequently approved, however we are unfortunately unable to honour your request for a river view room due to these rooms already being occupied. Whilst we would certainly encourage you to take the opportunity to move to another room to resolve this unfortunate issue and make the remainder of your time with us more pleasant, we note your decision is to remain in your current room. Whilst we are required to strictly comply with the directives and guidelines provided by WADOH, we continue to strive hard to ensure that we do what we can within those guidelines to make our quarantine guests’ time with us as comfortable as possible; should you therefore reconsider and wish to take advantage of the opportunity to move rooms, please do reach out to our Duty Manager so we can facilitate this for you and if there is anything else we can do to assist, please do let us know. Best regards Ribhu Chatterjee

We had a delightful stay at the Hyatt Regency Perth over the weekend. Any issues with quarantine restrictions is certainly off set by the opportunity to enjoy a quiet Hotel stay.
The Room as booked, had a great view over the Swan River, a very comfortable bed and the amenities one expects to enjoy at a five star Hotel.
We included the “Regency Club” option, this amenity has been reassigned to the Conservatory Lounge as apposed to the usual 8th Floor Lounge (part of the current restrictions)
However, the level of service and quality of the food offering was very well presented, and the savory and sweet choices were excellent.
The only brickbat being that it wasn’t till we went to the Lounge that were told there was a limit of four drinks per person. Not that we expected to over consume in any way, but have never had any restrictions at any other Hotels …ever.
Breakfast is also served in the Conservatory Lounge with adequate offerings, of note the Regency Club option only includes a continental breakfast. The Welcome Letter advised this can be enjoyed either in the Conservatory Lounge or via Room Service, albeit with a small $5 delivery charge. We did enquire about having this via Room Service but were told it was not an option, so some confusion there.
Having said that the service in the Lounge was excellent and a small upgrade of $10 to a full hot breakfast is available.
So overall a great stay; one word of advice is that if using the Hotel / complex car park, do park near the lift access as the duel escalator from the car park and into the Hotel is currently off, so be prepared for stairs. (something we were unaware of and not the best first impression)

+1
Room was ok, nice pool, piano player in the foyer was nice in the afternoon as was the pizza. Breakfast was a big disappointment, had to wait for a table for 10 minutes. Breakfast area was chaos with big queues for eggs only one chef, poached egg was uncooked, orange juice was empty, huge queue for the coffee dispenser such that we had to order a coffee and advised that would be extra. Despite all the delays and disruption a waitress advised at 10.20am that breakfast ends in 10 minutes. Breakfast spoilt an otherwise nice stay. I appreciate that there may be busy spells but you’d expect better with an international hotel who should appreciate that the breakfast experience is a huge influence to guest satisfaction.

My husband and I are world Hyatt Members and stay at Perth Hyatt regularly. I booked a King Regency Suite for 2 nights for our anniversary weekend recently. When we arrived and checked in we were given our keys and we were on the 3rd floor, our view was the back and roof of a building. My husband went to ask if we could move to a higher floor so as we could have a view. The front desk man said we could be upgraded and asked a bellman to show us two rooms on the 8th floor. These rooms were exactly the same as the room we had on the 3rd floor but with a view of the swan river. When we went back to front desk we were told it would be at a cost of $70 a night to upgrade, for exactly same room on higher floor, this room is apparently classed as a King Regency Executive Suite!!. After some discussion we were offered the room for $50 a night, their best offer apparently. I later checked on internet and the price difference in the rooms is $50.
We were also unaware that the club dining rooms were closed, even though the front desk insisted it would of been on our confirmation email, said email was produced and there was no mention of closure of club dining. Instead evening drinks and canapés were in the foyer bar. I wish I had gone with my first thought and booked the Crown Towers.

Dear Janette299 Thank you for posting your review and for providing your feedback, as a regular guest of the hotel this is appreciated. It was, however, concerning to read that you were disappointed with your visit, especially when compared to previous experiences and particularly as it was for a special occasion. In regards to the Regency Club Lounge I am sorry you were unaware that this would not be available during your visit. Unfortunately, due to the social distancing and hygiene requirements regarding food and beverage service, the Regency Club Lounge remains temporarily closed till further notice. Information regarding this is on our website under the appropriate room category and as restrictions continue to be eased, we are hopeful we will be able to look at re-opening this facility in the not too distant future at which time we will update the information accordingly. We thank you again for your feedback and hope that despite the above you will choose to stay with us again. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know. Best regards Ribhu Chatterjee

Had a fantastic stay. All the staff were super helpful and assisted with our numerous requests (mostly as a result of travelling with two children under two). Some reviews noted that this is an older style hotel. In an attempt to settle the debate on this point, I didn’t feel that impacted our stay at all. The hotel is well maintained and our suite had everything we needed and wanted - it was large, quiet and very pleasant. I also found that the hotel represented great value for money.

There is a restaurant in the hotel that is quite casual and you can sit in the bar and order food from there. However I am not sure when it shuts. You might need to rely on room service. We found that people tend to eat supper quite early in Australia compared to the UK

Having difficulty remembering but I think about $30 per night. Rip off but that's all that is available.
