Detailed Reviews
I upgraded to a Delux King room which was great 2 chairs and a coffee table and a bit more spacious. The bed was fantastic one of the best I have ever slept in. The dark drapes were great too. Aircon and fan worked a treat as very warm this day. The room was clean. While we appreciated the complimentary breakfast the Panini was still frozen in the middle. however the upside was the coffee was very good. :)
We had to sit in the foyer for breakfast as there were no more seats in the dining room, this was fine and very comfortable. I did have to ask the young lady who was about to vacuum the carpet just where we were sitting not to start that as I cannot bear dust let alone the noise. She did accomodate us with a smile.
We paid the $30 for parking and we felt this was a reasonable charge for the convenience. We did try to book in earlier however we were told the room was ready however this would incur a $50 early check in charge. It was indicated that if we came back in 1 hour we could check in for free. This was not a big issue for us as the location is great you are right at the door steps of the main Perth mall.

Dear Lainey, Thank you so much for taking the time out to leave such a lovely review about your recent stay with us! I am so pleased to hear that you enjoyed all aspects of your stay at The Pensione. I am pleased you were able to book into one of the slightly larger rooms to give you that little bit of extra space that is often needed when staying for more than one night. I do apologise that the breakfast panini you received was under-cooked, I will be sure to pass this on to my barista to ensure it is rectified moving forward. All of the staff here work extremely hard so I will be sure to pass on all of your wonderful feedback. I hope we get the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future. Warmest regards, Sarah Begbie General Manager

We had booked a small budget room, but at our arrival one of the manager, Sarah R., told us that that room was really too small for us. We were at the end of our two months trip through Australia from Italy and were staying in Perth six days to visit the city, Kings Park and the beautiful places not too far from Perth, such as Fremantle, the Rottnest Island, the Pinnacles, Busselton and Margaret River region. After welcoming us and getting our heavy luggage from outside the hotel (she is a young woman!), this nice manager suggested us to change the room we booked (that was nice but just too small for six days and for our luggage) and gave us a spacious quiet room on the seventh floor. This made our stay very relaxing and we felt valuable guests and not just guests. Anyway all the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy, it had a ceiling fan, and, of course, air conditioning, a fridge, a kettle and a nice flat screen TV. They have a small garage where, after booking it, you can park your car at 30 AUD per night and they give you a voucher for a light breakfast. The very hearth of the city is 5 minutes walk.
Thanks a lot for all.

Stayed here New Year’s Eve and only paid $155 . The hotel was only small but was clean and tidy . Reception staff were lovely . Breakfast was only a toasted sandwich or croissant with a hot drink but it was included in the price and was very nice. Location was great too places to eat and drink near by . Would definitely stay again.

I travelled to this hotel in December with my parents, after having to cancel our initial hotel due to Jetstars strikes, and us arriving on a cricket weekend. We arrived quite late (2:30am) after flying in from the east cost. Check-in service was friendly. But that is the nicest thing I can say about this place, and I think the 'high-rated' reviews of the hotel is probably dependent on the travellers that would usually stay here, backpackers.
My parents and I each had a separate room. The rooms were incredibly small. Ended up opening my suitcase in the hallway, and having to step over it when trying to get to the bathroom. When I walked into my room there was a very strong smell of cigarette smoke. It appeared to be coming from a vent in the bathroom, but was intermitent. I was too tired to tell reception ( I did on check out) so I just closed the bathroom door.
Water pressure wasn't great. The air con blew straight onto the bed, and only seemed to operate loudly and at high speed. So was difficult to sleep. The windows are also definetly not sound proof. I could hear the street sweepers outside, and mum and dad heard the sirens of the fire station next door all night.
We ended up checking out the next morning (so only 3 hours 'sleep') as we just we didn't feel this place was represented by the pictures. The breakfast sounded pretty basic, so we headed elsewhere.
15 years ago when I was backpacking this would have been a nice respite from a backpackers hostel. But now in my late 30s and travelling with two seniors, this was not a good hotel at all. Would definetly not return.
The location in the city is also quite nerving. Didn't realise this until the day time when we walked surrounding streets and noted a lot of homeless and druggos shooting up on the street. I suspect this building used to be some kind of shelter before it was done up.

Dear Karen, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Whilst I am sorry to hear you did not enjoy your time spent here at The Pensione I can assure you we take all comments seriously and use this to learn and improve. I am very surprised to read you were not satisfied with the hotel. In regards to the room sizing we do not try to hide the fact the guest rooms are on the smaller size. The floor sizing is advertised online and with the names chosen - i.e 'Petite Queen' - this is something we are not shy about. What we lack in size however, we make up for in cleanliness, location and customer service. As you said the majority of the feedback we receive is really positive and guests have really lovely things to stay about their time spent with us. We actually get very few backpackers, most of our guests are either corporate or leisure visitors. I am sorry to hear that your time spent in Perth did not exceed your expectations and I do hope you get the opportunity to visit our amazing city again. Warm regards, Sarah Begbie General Manager

We got upgraded to a king size bed in a room that is just too small, No room for luggage without tripping over it. They had no food, hence no Breakfast then charged me for coffee in the morning. Only stairs no accommodations for the disabled. The shower head needs a good clean or replacement, No toilet brush, soap holder flips, only half the lights working.

Good Morning Desiree, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am disappointed and surprised to hear that you were felt let down by your time spent with us. You seemed to enjoy your time whilst you were here and I thought the complimentary upgraded would have been well received. In regards to the lack of breakfast, this is correct. When the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, we were forced to close down our cafe. Due to the levels of guests in house only just picking up now, we have only just re-opened this space. Your room comes stocked with complementary coffee/tea/milk so the barista made coffee down stairs is of course charged. We have two elevators in the hotel and although there is no ramp at the front of the building for those that may struggle with stairs, we have alternative access through the car park if required. Again I am sorry to hear you were not satisfied with your stay. If any of these problems you encountered had of been brought to the attention of front desk we would have been more than happy to resolve them for you. Kind regards, Sarah Begbie General Manager

We cannot thank the staff of Pensione Hotel enough to show our gratitude.
We recently stayed at the Pensione Perth as my father had been RFDS’d to Perth from Karratha and the from my initial stressed phone call trying to find accomodation close enough to RPH, Sarah the front office manager, was so kind and very helpful to talk to. All the staff we dealt with, were courteous, professional and knowledgeable.
For a budget hotel, the establishment was very well kept and clean. The bathroom facilities in the rooms were actually really good. The location for what we needed was very convenient and we liked that no one can just walk into the lobby after hours, the security in knowing that made us feel safe too.
We really rate our stay 5/5. Thank You so much for the kindness and a great place to stay.

Although it’s not much to look at from outside I can assure you looks can be, and are, deceiving. This is a charming little budget hotel not far from the heart of the Perth CBD. I have stayed here twice in the past couple of weeks as it is only a 5 minute walk to the Royal Perth Hospital, which is perfect if you have, as I did, someone in hospital for a lengthy period of time. The rooms I stayed in were small but very well equipped and I have to say the most comfortable bed I have slept in for a long time. It’s like sleeping on a cloud. I preferred a room on an upper floor on the south side away from the Murray Street traffic noise and the afternoon sun. My requests were noted and fulfilled without any problems. One of the reasons I really love this hotel is that you can open the window a few inches to get some fresh air, always a must for me. There is a bar downstairs in Pier Street that is right next door and the music can get a little loud but the windows are double glazed so it’s only a problem if you leave it open but the music stops a bit after midnight. There is also a free CAT shuttle bus stop right across the street in Murray Street. Really handy for getting around town. Finally, the staff. They are welcoming, friendly and are so helpful to ensure a pleasant stay. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Good Morning KayandSean, Thankyou so much for the lovely comments about your recent stay with us. I am so pleased to hear that any requests you had were fulfilled by the staff and you were happy with the room during your stay. As you mentioned we are only a short walk from RPH so anything we can do to help remove the stress of having someone you care about in hospital, we are more than happy to assist with. Being so centrally located means there can be some street noise, however as you said the hotels double glazed windows does a great job at soundproofing the rooms! Hopefully we get the opportunity to welcome you back again soon. I hope you have a beautiful Christmas and New Year! Warm regards, Sarah Begbie

We only had a night in Perth but we wanted a central location. Pensione allowed us to drop our bags off and spend the day organising all the tasks we required. The rooms are clean and modern and the bed was super comfy and huge !
The staff were absolutely delightful and super kind. The central location made our stay easy as we were able to utilise the trains and walk where ever we needed.
We will stay again !

As I was self isolating at the property. On day 3rd the water in my washroom was full of fungus. It was brown-blackish in colour. It was horrendous. Sad part is there was no prior warning about the issue as I was later told plumber was working on it so i wasn’t cautioned not to use the facility. After reporting the issue there was no effort made by the staff to change the room or fix the issue promptly. I was told to let it run, the entire day I had to see slug coming out in my washroom. At my arrival I was told to fill my drinking water from the washroom as that was my only source of water, and was made sure it is safe to drink. It was a serious health and hygiene issue. I couldn’t go out and just had to clean up all the mess by myself. Wouldn’t wish this situation on my enemies.

Dear Guest, Thankyou for taking the time to share your feedback. I am very disappointed to read your comments, especially since both myself and my staff explained the situation to you. During your stay one of the pipes unexpectedly burst in the carpark. this occurred at about 2:30pm. As soon as we were aware of the leak we got the plumbers to attend site and rectify the issue. To be able to do so the water had to be turned off to the building for approximately 1.5 hours. Whenever water supply is turned off, there is a sediment build up and the water simply needs to run for a few minutes to clear the discolouration. The water is still safe. Once the water was back on we ran the water in some empty rooms to clear the pipes as soon as possible. We cannot give warning to unexpected faults - all we can do is try to fix the problem as soon as we can - which we did. The issue was raised and resolved all within 2 hours. There was definitely no mess to clean and no 'slug' present. It is disappointing that after staying with us for a long period of time and the staff doing all they could to assist you, you have provided dishonest feedback. Regards, Sarah Begbie

Unfortunately the shuttles stop at 11.20 pm. A taxi will be required. Avalon $140.00. Tullamarine $40.00
The Bus you will catch is a number 380 which runs every half hour from the Airport, the stop you ask for is Irwin Street which is only 1 street running Vertically next to PIER street where the Pensione Hotel is on the Corner of Pier Street and Murray street! I catch this bus all of the time it is very cheap only a few dollars and about 30 minutes bus ride! Have a safe flight!
