We stayed three nights and were a group of five ladies. We all felt that we had gone to another city yet it was a staycation at home. The location lends itself to beautiful walks and scenery, good food all around and the beds were comfortable. There's no place like home but for a home away from home it was suitable. It is self catering so take everything you think you will need, including dish detergent, tea, milk. They provide a minimal starter pack of toiletries and tea/coffee/sugar sachets but we needed more! Enough toilet paper though, don't pack that! The front desk were very helpful the few times I called on them. No request was ignored or fobbed off. If you want five star go somewhere else. If you want affordable, comfortable, homely and handy, you can't go wrong with Mont Clare. We had a three room, two bathroom suite on the fifth floor.

Stayed in a three bedroom apartment on 5th floor for 10 nights with two other couples.

The pros: It's in a great spot, close to restaurants, shops and CAT bus services. You can park your car on site if need be. The washer and dryer provided were new and worked well. The pool was lovely and clean and the gym had adequate equipment (although not enough alcohol wipes etc. to clean after). The staff were all very friendly before and during our stay. The price is fair for what you get (worked out to about $100pn per couple).

The cons: Make no mistake, this place is in need of an upgrade. The bathrooms were old and looked a bit grubby and could do with a good scrub. The ensuite bathroom in bedroom one had a handheld shower in a bath with nowhere to hang it, inconvenient and could be dangerous stepping into and out of a bath for less mobile/older people. The second bathroom/laundry was located in bedroom three, meaning bedroom two occupants had to walk through bedroom three to get to the shower/toilet. Luckily we stayed with close friends so this wasn't an issue for us but it could be if you were less friendly with your housemates! There was no hanging space in bedroom three and nowhere to store suitcases so we felt like we were living in an obstacle course. There were only five chairs for the dining table, some of the crockery had only five pieces, the fridge wasn't very cold so our milk went off within a couple of days. No pan for dustbrush. You could hear noise from above and below with doors closing and people walking around. The place has the feel of a privately owned apartment that is rented out as an investment and the owners clearly don't want to spend any money on it. As per the title of this review, it was very reasonably priced and well located so if you are looking for a little luxury then perhaps pay a bit more and stay elsewhere.

I recently stayed at Mont Clare Apartments in East Perth in a 2 Bed, 2 Bath apartment with a couple of friends. The inner city location was great, as were the staff who were friendly and happy to be of assistance. Arriving late at night was a breeze with a lock box. The property had two car parks so we managed to find a park each night. The apartment was clean but in need of a freshen up. The dining table chairs were all a bit wonky and as a result a little uncomfortable. There were also some little quirks such as no power points in the bedrooms or if one existed it was right behind the bed head. Like switches we in odd places and some lights globes were blown. I'm all for water saving but the shower head in the main bathroom was next to useless and I struggled to get wet! As mentioned above I think the apartment could do with a freshen up, including steam cleaning of the carpets. I appreciate the apartments are most probably privately owned with the onus being on the owners. If I'm being picky the TV was too small and difficult to watch but not a deal breaker.

The apartment was clean, well equipped and comfortable. There was 5 of us staying in the 1 apartment and there was plenty of space. The location on Hay Street was good. CAT buses pass by regularly or a 15 minute walk into the main shopping area in CBD.

The staff on reception were friendly and helpful. We used the car park which was $10 for the night but is secure. We didnt use the pool can't comment on that.

All in all this is great for groups to stay together close to city centre for a budget stay.

On check in there was a drugged unconscious woman in foyer on couch she was thrown over a guys shoulders after a few attempts and taken in the lift. I asked if everything was okay staff said thankyou for your concern. Children and husband witnessed from the car they were shocked, we went and checked our room as I had already been at the counter and done paperwork, we then spoke about confronting experience. We proceeded to the room once inside we turned around and went straight back to reception and informed them sorry we can't stay here. We felt unsafe this is NOT a nice place at all, NOTHING POSITIVE HERE. They said email the manager - I did seven times and rang three but no reply to anything they refused to refund we were there ten minutes paid for two night through Agoda who said they should refund however this hotel refuses!!!
Honestly I think this is how they make their money because there is no way you would stay here if you had a choice, once you see the place. Also the pool isn't in the building as advertised its across a car park in another building that residents live in!!!

Firstly I was arriving on a Sunday and advised of my arrival time between 2 and 3 pm. Arrived at 3 pm to find reception closes at 2.30 pm on Sundays. After making phone call I received advice on how to access and we made our way to our apartment. The furniture in the apartment was old and dated. The lounge cushions were worn and stained, supported underneath by a wooden board. The curtain covering the sliding door to the balcony was either torn or had been cut right up the centre, perhaps to make access to the balcony easier. The floor was sticky in parts. We were feeling uncomfortable within 5 minutes. The air conditioner was not working and the refrigerator was making noises like a truck idling. We had to close the door to our bedroom at night to shut the noise out. The apartment was clearly sub standard and had been in that condition for some time. With no one at reception I had to wait until the next morning to complain. To their credit they did move us to another apartment which was completely acceptable and of a standard which you would expect. Obviously they have at least 2 different standards and what you are given may be like a lottery, a lottery I will not participate in again. There are other hotel, apartments in that location that guarantee an acceptable standard for a similar price. My advice is to try them first.

Upon arrival and entering the 3rd floor where our room was located, there was a strong stale cigarette/mould smell. When entering our room, the smell was still there. The room, at first glance, was nothing like the photos on the website (had not aged well, patch marks everywhere, and the smell did not make us feel like the place was well looked after or well cleaned, but we dropped our bags off and headed out to already planned activities. That night when we returned and rolled out the sofa bed for the kids to sleep on, it was unusable due to 3/4 of the springs missing and held together with wire? so it was lopsided, and the mattress looked like it had been picked up from the streets. So the kids had to squeeze in and, as a family of 6, had to share two beds. We enquired with staff regarding the bedding, showed them the attached photos, and asked if we could change rooms because of the state of the room and the mattress. Also, the internet cable was missing and had been pulled out of the wall, so there was no Internet as well. He stated he couldn't facilitate anything because the Manager was not back until Tuesday after the Easter long weekend. We also asked about a refund because we were charged for two extra kids to use the sofa bed, which again was unusable. We checked out on Monday, so I was unable to speak to the Manager directly but had sent an email expressing my concerns to be told, " we didn't say anything when checking out" so basically too bad (the reason being we were told the Manager was not back until Tuesday) All in all the way the Manager and staff have handled everything is very disappointing. Now they have our money; they couldn't care less about at least giving us a partial refund due to the sleeping conditions, no internet, false advertising and cleanliness of the property. Again, if you are reading this, my advice would be to spend a little extra and stay somewhere comfortable and clean or spend less and book across the road at Alderney on the Hay, which is cheaper and I've had a lot better experience there than the Monte Clare.

Booked a week at this establishment for well over $1000. Upon arrival viewed the room with multiple hole repairs in the walls not painted. Carpets were dirty and could barely see through windows so dirty. Oven hadn’t been cleaned and only four glasses available (3 wine and 1 normal). Bathroom was outdated and miserable. TV was probably about 24 inch.

Upon questioning the state of the room, was advised that nothing could be done and no one could comment as it was a public holiday. Decided to pack up and leave to a different hotel.

Gave it two days and contacted the established. Was advised that room was non-refundable, they were happy to view the photos I took, but would probably not do anything about it.

Don’t waste your money like I did. After viewing it, would not pay half of what they ask.

We booked this to be within walking distance of a particular car rental office. Sadly we found it second rate from first to last….. brusque reception, broken washing machine (“I’ll send someone” - nope). One bedroom had no windows and only one light switch outside the room, strange smell in the hall of Floor 1 ……

You can do better than this place.

I had to reschedule my trip because I caught COVID. When I call them, it took them 5 days to come back to me with a reply to our request to change dates. If they had given us a timely response (even within a day or two of my request to change dates) I could have let family or friends use our booking. Instead, they finally came back to us after the booking dates had passed, refusing to reschedule our stay or refund. Needless to say we've booked elsewhere now.
