This was a weird experience. Emerald is most certainly the classiest hotel in Gisborne. I booked the cheapest room with no view (they gave us number 8211), but no view does not mean that you will the view of other people! The rooms window is one side of the triangle and the hall windows are the other side. With less...

One guide book reckoned that this hotel had the largest bedrooms in New Zealand. It could well be correct. The rooms were enormous but our room faced onto the main street. The windows were single glazed and the constant noise of the huge timber lorries passing by was a great nuisance. The hotel is situated in a commercial office type...

Conveniently placed hotel right in the middle of town , near the river . Had a nice Pub next door , The Rivers , which served good food . Good sized rooms with some overlooking the pool area . Breakfast expensive ! Better and cheaper ones to be found quite near by. They have a very friendly and helpful maintenance...

Stayed here one Sunday night in February, room (8)201, overlooking the pool and has a massive balcony. The room itself was enormous with a king size bed and a wet room for a bathroom; plus it has a second bedroom with twin beds. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable, with loads of storage space. From the balcony the pool...

Standard hotel in central location.Long hot stuffy corridor walk to room from lift. Spa pool needs renovation, lots of tiles missing. You swim while restaurant patrons watch. Ask for a river view room so you are not on the road.

Central Main Street location. Walking distance to shops & cafés etc, Great pool & spa area with nice big umbrellas for shade. Our Executive Pool View room was very spacious with a good size balcony with a large table & chairs. Air conditioning was good to cool the room on hot Gisborne days,

We chose to stay in the Emerald Hotel for its central location. Great to walk to the bars and restaurants. Our room was clean enough but the carpet was stained, the outdoor furniture was missing a cushion and we had to ask for the staff to remove a dirty ashtray from the balcony. It's a pity that the desk staff...

We had a suite which e ncompassed bedroom, lounge with dining table and chairs, spacious bathroom and balcony with table and chairs. This is a quality room with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Great value for money. The bistro is OK but the bar is limited but there is a good pub next door for food and drinks. Only slight niggle...

We stayed here for one night, the room was very clean and large. It came with an amazing balcony overlooking the river. The staff were very friendly. It is a modern hotel. We found it to be good value for money compared to other hotels we have stayed in.
