We organise motorcycle rides for our friends a clients and this month chose Hicks Bay to be our destination for the 2nd night of our 3 day 1200 km plus ride. Despite a lot of rain and 560km ridden we arrived finally at about 6pm. Ot was a little difficult booking in with a bit of a language/understanding barrier with...

Having read some earlier reviews I wondered what I'd let myself in for! In fact it was fine, check my photos. Check in was straightforward and clear directions given to my room which was clean, spacious with great view. (Queen bayview booked). Toiletries were provided and adequate towels. The shower/loo is dated and poorly lit but ok. Having a fridge...

Motel rooms are very dated but clean and the beds comfortable. The meal in the restaurant was let down by very poor service. We ordered garlic bread for a starter and a steak for myself, salmon for my wife. The main courses arrived after about 30 minutes, but no garlic bread. After the meal we were told "Your garlic bread...

Stayed 1 night in a cabin, with kitchenette, during our East Cape road trip. We chose this place to break up the journey from Whakatane to Gisborne. This place is VERY tired with very old furniture, fittings & decor. No wifi included in the accommodation cost. We wont stay here again.

We booked this motel as touring east cape and could not find any other motels at top of the cape. The description was very correct however they seem to make a play on its kiwiana description. The motel was clean however could really do with a spruce up and a repaint. We were lucky the night was cool as only one...

This place has a old school charm to it that is quirky but could do with some updating. Lovely view across Hicks bay but vegetation could do with a trim to make more of the view for the rooms. Our room was clean and tidy but quite dated, window was stuck closed so quite hot at night. Loved the glow...

Whatever you do , plan your East Cape journey of the North Island of New Zealand carefully . I'm a very keen motorcyclist and have ridden extensively throughout my country many many times , the east cape being one of them. Recently my partner and I rode from Hastings on route to Tauranga (our home) and I'd planned the East...

This is the 2nd time staying at this Motel and unfortunately nothing has changed since the last visit 1 year ago.Very dated and not very well maintained. Unit for 5 people,1 toilet roll, 4 towels, not enough utensils/crockery for 5. 4 chairs, yet found a stool to make the 5th seat, however, this stool was holding the back of the...

Dated and needs lots of work. Had to wait until after 3.30 for room to be ready. Very basic but adequate for short stay over. Restaurant food ok but overpriced. Lots of flies and mosquitoes but no fly spray provided. Staff friendly and pleasant.

Served a purpose. Felt it was a little over priced for what was on offer. But they did allow us to keep the dog. I rang and checked and got the OK but when I called to confirm. They were unaware, but agreed for her to stay. Front desk staff while OK, were a little remote and not very forthcoming....
