It was a really relaxing stay at this beautiful manor house. We got two adjacent rooms that open up to the grounds, where you could walk around to explore the greenery and also the farm. The hosts Margaret and Allan are kind and welcoming. They also made us the best breakfast spread in the morning! Not far to drive to Hobbiton and Hamilton Gardens and other highlights.

The grounds are reminiscent of an English 'estate'. They are well kept and comprehensive. The home is 'IMPRESSIVE'. Our hosts, Allan and Margaret are relaxed, well spoken, well educated, gracious, and welcoming. Margaret is a most excellent cook. The 'expansive' views from the floor to ceiling windows, allowed us to bring the outdoors inside. The patio, with it's Italian stone paving evokes memories of Europe.

Was a stunning place, gorgeous view, and amazing hosts. Snacks were provided, and breakfast was amazing. Allan and Margaret were very accomodating as we were surprising my father for his birthday. They were very friendly and ensured that we had an amazing stay. Would defiantly return, and would 100% recommend this stunning hidden away gem.

Wow. Just wow. What a stunning place - in every way. The house itself was absolutely beautiful inside and out, the view from the house picturesque, and the hosts themselves were wonderful. I don’t think I’ve ever been in such a nice shower - or slept in such a nice bed! It was a good distance from everything and not too hard to find. Margaret and Allan are such lovely people, 10/10 would stay again, thank you so much for having us in your stunning house.

This is a very unique and lovely home. It's uniqueness is guided by the hosts themselves: an interesting couple who seem to appreciate experiencing what their guests bring to their home. They truly seem to enjoy their role and go to great lengths to make sure their guests are comfortable. We stayed in 10 different accommodations during our three weeks on the North Island and our accommodations here were the most outstanding in terms of quality and attention to detail. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting Margaret and Allan and greatly appreciate the outstanding breakfasts Margaret prepared and Allan's careful guidance in planning our days. Hamilton is a hidden gem and this home and couple allow that gem to sparkle.

My apologies for the slow acknowledgement. Blackwood House really enjoys welcoming guests of the caliber of Candice and Bruce. To get to share ones adventures and travels make the business of welcoming ,initial strangers to depart as great friends, all the more worth while. We very much enjoyed the Fergusson visit. Wishing you both all the best. Margaret and Allan at Blackwood House
