The room was spacious and very clean, all amenities were provided, the staff were friendly, the double shower was unique and the onsite parking was just what we needed. A lovely overnight stay, we highly recommend this motel.
This was the most expensive motel we stayed in on our holiday and the worst. We had a one bedroom and a single in the lounge both comfortable. The roller blind in the bedroom did not fit right over the window so bright light from outside came in both sides and there was no curtain on the back door and as it shone straight into the kitchen lounge area the single bed space was very light. The kitchen was very small and all cups etc on a high shelf we had difficulty reaching. The microwave was above the sink at face height so often banged our head as we tried to do dishes. The bathroom shower was great but bathroom extremely small and no where to put anything, toilet shower vanity all in together which is fine but you had to shut the door to even open the shower or get to the toilet was very squashed. Also long black hair on the floor in bathroom and we are both fair! yuk. They had no where comfortable for 2 people to sit and was quite noisy by the road. Says on website about a cafe but we didn't see one and it wasn't mentioned by owner and we were there 2 nights. Overall not a great experience sadly .…
We stayed in room 5 and loved it. It is perfect for a small family. Has a kitchenette, beautiful bathroom, 2 TVs, comfortable beds, room is clean. Great complimentrys and more than enough linen. Is located towards the end of the building so if you are allergic to noise this may be a better option as it is on a very busy main road. Didn't bother me. Free washing and powder, $3 for drier. Car park included. Would love to stay there again. Only 900 metres from Waikato hospital.
We stayed at the Astra overnight on the 13 April ,our hostess was friendly and accomodating ,our room very clean and had everything we needed ,my partner found the pillows to hard but thats a personal thing . My only negative was the view from our kitchen window motor mower ,discarded cans ,pile of wet old cardboard and just unkempt appearance Would we stay here again ,definetly
We stayed here over Labour Weekend and Brian was just brilliant. We were a hockey team and he went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, our rooms were clean and well serviced and we felt comfortable during the tournament. He even went the extra mile and helped with washing our uniforms! Would definitely stay here again - good for personal, business and sporting occasions!
This Motel was very Modern,Clean and Tidy.It was quite quiet in the room. Being next to SH1 we heard a few trucks early morning,But not a problem. The Shower area is very clean and tidy. Would Defiantly stay again if up that way.
Having to come to Hamilton for 12 days i chose to stay at the Astra.Brian and his wife run a very nice place. My 4 plus star unit with a huge bed and very large shower was delightful (#10) and was very well maintained and everything was as it should be plus very clean. There are cooking facilities and a nice size under bench fridge for those goodies u want to keep cool.If i wanted anything nothing was a bother. Its very close to (5 minute walk approx) the Braemar and Waikato Hospitals and the big name supermarkets are within 3 kms.Several smaller dairy type shops are within 500 metres.Because of covid-19 not a lot was open but i did manage to get pizza one night.WIFI is available 24/7 plus Sky of 50 channels (something for everyone) which took the boredom away of not being able to go far ........ i definitely will be staying there next time i am through…
I stayed for 6 Days at Astra Lodge. Booking & payment was easy. The Unit I booked had a full kitchenette with basic but satisfactory utensils, equipment, microwave & fridge. The shower was large with great water pressure. Comfortable large bed. Air con. Couch, table & chairs when I had visitors. Close to shops, takeaways, supermarkets, Hospital. The Unit was clean & tidy. House keeping staff were friendly & efficient. Ironing board, iron & hangers. I was super impressed that they provided a laundry room with free washing machine & powder. Clothes dryer was only $3. Life saver :) Parking on-site was easy & safe.
We stayed at Astra Motor Lodge, Hamilton for one night on 8th December 2019. We found it very conveniently located on way into Hamilton. With sufficient parking the room was spacious and equipped with complete kitchen.
Brian was incredible. We had a family member in ICU hospital and he couldn’t have been more accommodating!!! He even offered to drive my auntie to the hospital and pick her up. We are going back this week.
