Not a bad place to stay overall, though I never entered the restaurant etc. Room clean enough. No compendium was annoying, I had to figure out the WiFi myself, and too bad if I was wanting any other general information. The valet parking should be optional, as I was not at all pleased or comfortable leaving my car and my keys who knows where. I would have checked straight back out but it was too late in the day for a 6 hour drive home. I wouldn't stay again for this reason.
This Hotel reopened on the day I checked in with a colleagues for 11 room nights. We were attanding Fieldays so early starts and late nights. On my second evening I returned to my room at 7pm. It was not serviced. I went to reception and was told there is a lack of staff in NZ. No excuse. Not only had housekeeping overlooked it but also the managerial staff. What was strange was the airconditioning had been chaned so someone had been in my room. I raised it at check out with the manager wh said he had read my complaint but did not contact me or leave a hone message. I checkout four days ago and still no contactas he promised. Not a good start IBIS.
My stay was only a matter of a few days after the re-opening after a massive refurbishment. We will know what to expect from a Ibis Hotel but this would now have to be one of their flagship properties. It is very fresh, well furnished. Fresh new paint. Great linen and soft bath towels. The new covered balcony overlooking the Waikato River is great and well appointed. Staff are very friendly and appear to love their jobs. Certainly would stay here again. Great work Ibis with your refresh
An MIQ experience not to be repeated. The room was clean with a huge bed but the shower room was tiny and the food was, with a few exceptions, horrible. The staff were all pleasant but the whole experience was horrible. The window didn't open so I was limited to recycled air and portable air units dotted along the corridor. The irony of this was watching a "freedom" protest parade outside through my non-opening window. The two exercise areas were limited in size and I didn't feel were large enough to be safe or separated sufficienly from others. The hotel did offer a limited snack/drink service but this wasn't great.
Stayed here for business twice in around March 2020 and was quite disappointed. I have stayed at the Ibis in Wellington many times before and expected the same level of service. The staff were friendly. They were busy upon arrival so was a long wait to check in, would have been great to have two staff on hand. I was tired after driving down from Auckland at 6 a.m. and working the whole day. The room was pleasant but a bit noisy unfortunately. The parking was a real big issue, lack of parking and I was not going to park off street. The food was really not that great, I ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel. I returned to Hamilton the week after and did not check back into the Ibis.
Excellent staff who friendly, warm and so helpful! Room was clean and welcoming! Will definitely stay again! A big shout out to the valet who parked our vehicle, one of the female staff, and we didn't catch her name, you are awesome!
Always pleasant place to stay, friendly staff and good location for catching the bus to attend the Chiefs game, however now need to reserve a car park when booking as only a small number of car parks available.
Room was very small, we were on Level 7, therefore the whole night all we could hear was the drone of the air-conditioning units on the roof, very loud and very annoying. We had breakfast which was definitely not worth the amount we paid. All the food was cold, the sausages were not even cooked, the toaster kept tripping out, so the food was stone cold by the time you finally got to eat it. Will not go back to this hotel
This place is budget everywhere u look. We checked in but once we saw our room we checked out.. The room was about $170.. but the room was tiny.. and very budget.. can’t get more basic really.. just a place to sleep that’s it.. not a nice room to hang out in at all. We checked out and went to the Ventura Inn down the road.. paid $145 and got room more than double the size.. comfy.. roomy.. bath.. no budget feel.. Recommend the Ventura Inn.. 100%
Nice hotel, small city, nice riverside, good walking possibilities, close by restaurants. Nice room, excellent breakfast, happy hour between 17.00 and 18.00 hours, nice snacks available. The pancake machine at the breakfast buffet is fantastic,
