Outdoor terrace with view of ocean is lovely. Attractive decor including sweet tea-cups. Excellent access to ocean. Room was quite different to the one we chose on booking.com. Air conditioning didn't work. Would have liked better lock on room door (e.g. chain/bar).

My wife and I stayed at Art Deco Masonic recently while on holiday in NZ. The hotel is in great location right down close to Marine Parade in Napier. Walking distance to multiple restaurants, shops and attractions. We stayed in Art Deco Suite. It is queen bed which I did not like due to my height. The room is small...

A very comfortable hotel, with a quirky bar providing the food and drink in what would be described as a pub in the UK. All very presentable if you like canteen eating. A very noisy venue in my view but the food was perfectly edible. Breakfast was a little ordinary and frankly not good.

Hi Ian, Thanks for staying with us recently and for posting your thoughts. It is unfortunate that your experience in our multi award winning Emporium eatery and Bar was not what you expected. You must frequent some top quality establishments in the UK if you called Emporium a "pub" and a "canteen". We certainly are not either of these. Regards,...

Beautiful Art Deco Hotel. Lovely room and very helpful staff. Would certainly recommend. Wish I could have stayed longer! Very central location too. The reception area is something else! Nice seating area outside too

Very cool place to stay. Central, right across the road from the beach. Friendly staff, good food and coffee. Lovely bar to have a drink at. Good cocktail list and heaps of variety of beers on tap. Lots of local wines to chose from. Loved the place

Such a great place to stay in the perfect location for sightseeing in Napier. Or walking to one of the many good restaurants in the nearby area Our room was nicely furnished and the bed comfortable. It was nice to sit out on the rooftop area and watch the world go by. No problem with any street noise

Hi there, Thanks for staying at the Art Deco Masonic Hotel recently. During our recent refurbishments we installed double glazing throughout the hotel which dramatically reduces noise form the street. And it's great that you could spend some time on our wonderful balcony too. The views up there are amazing aren't they. Regards, Graeme

In keeping with the surrounding buildings, his hotel has a delightful art deco theme, beautifully finished in the public areas. Our room was small but comfortable and well furnished, but suffered from noise penetration from the bar/restaurant below; whilst we couldn't hear the piped music or conversation, every time someone moved a chair, we could hear it scraping across the...

Hi Andrew, Thanks for your constructive review and for mentioning the points about noise fro below. I can see that whilst this wasn't ideal, you understand that it is one of the quirks of an old building and even though the staff are as quiet as they can be, there is a bit of noise that creeps upstairs to the...

Had a lovely king size bedroom that opens up onto a shared terrace with seating overlooking the sea. The room was large with an enamelled bath with original 30's tiles and 30's style taps. The room has modern touches like air conditioning, much needed. Also, a fridge, kettle and tea/coffee making, ironing board and iron. There was a Guest Laundry...

Hi Moosie57, Thanks for your review, much appreciated. During our recent refurbishment we wanted to maintain the classic Art Deco feel whilst introducing modern aspect too which we've done successfully as you say. Thanks also for your comments regarding our staff, they'll appreciate reading these. Regards, Graeme

Every thing was good & easy to access & use etc. Facilities, restaurant & pub all very convenient & service quick & friendly. One thing missing: no Sky TV--we look for international news etc & for your calibre it should be there. Excellent position & close to all town activities & of course the art deco wonders. Otherwise very good...

We enjoyed our short stay in the hotel; our room was very 'Art Deco' as we expected. The service was acceptable and adequate but the lack of a safe in the room was surprising. It was comfortable enough but is in need of some refurbishment, keeping it in the Art Deco style, which we found so appealing.
