We stayed three nights and enjoyed the facilities of the apartment. Very helpful hostess offering discounts on Rotorua sights. Close to Te Puia and the center of rotorua as well as other sights. Recommended.

Surprised at the poor reviews here, we had a great stay. The lady on reception was lovely and helpful, booked us a taxi and gave us advice. Plus you get to see the Pohutu Geyser for free in the back yard! Our room was massive, sofa table kitchen comfy bed, big clean bathroom. Shower did go hot and cold, plus...

We had a 2 storey apartment. Upstairs was the living area and parents room and 1 toilet. Downstairs...and the stairs were very steep was a bathroom. So it was a bit of a chore up and down the stairs all day. The upstairs bedroom was so hot as to be unbearable. Even though we prepaid for 4 nights we left...

Pohutu Lodge is located just off State Highway 30 (Fenton Street) which backs on to the Te Puia geothermal attractions. It's location is convenient enough but you would need to drive to the supermarket or restaurants in town. The 'two bedroom' apartment actually comprises of large living/dining area with a queen bed within the living area, and an upstairs loft...

Hi Ken Please accept my apologies, the room you stayed in was not a two bedroom apartment but the Family Studio and had I have known there were no clothes hangers in your room it would have been rectified immediately. Nice place and very nice folks, but: two days of no hot water, or even warm water, in a land surrounded by more natural hot water than almost anywhere... not good. We weren't offered any money back either, and decided it was more than fare to not pay for three $10 loads of wash. I would recommend another place, which...

Hi Mark I'm so sorry you really did not enjoy your stay at Pohutu Lodge. We did have hot water issues during your stay (i'm sure this was explained to you). During the Christmas break is the hardest time of year to get gas fitters and plumbers on site (almost impossible) - we did our very best to keep up...

This place is a bit old and tired but comfortable enough. There is an upstairs and downstairs. There is a double bedroom and bathroom downstairs while upstairs is a twin bedroom and and living area. It is perfectly adequate for a family. Our biggest gripe was lack of hot water, which they did apologize for, apparently the pilot light blew...

Hi Sara Thanks for staying Pohutu Lodge Motel. The hot water turned out to be more than just the pilot light and has been a major for us over our busy time regretfully, but it is now fixed. The property is under new management, we started a refurbishing project in November this will continue until all rooms are done. Thanks...

Excellent location, great hosts and great to be able to have our wee dog with us. The beds were very comfortable. Advertised as having Sky TV but this was unavailable. Wifi speed very slow. No salt and pepper shakers. The carpet in the sitting room is filthy, if we had a child with us I wouldn't let it crawl on...

I stayed here for 3 nights as a base to see the geo thermals and it was basic but excellent. The owners were very friendly and helpful and went out of there way to help. The rooms are clean and large. It's in the edge of town but you really need a car in Rotorua so it wasn't an issue....
