Stayed for 3 days. Two villas as we were a family of 5. Wowed by the lake view from our villa. On the second day went trout fishing /fly fishing with John, the fisherman. Lucky enough to catch a trout. Next day went kayaking on the lake, easy compared to sea kayaking. Spotted black swans' nest nestled among the twigs....

As soon as we arrived, we felt the weight of the world float away. An incredibly beautiful setting, which I could have sat and marveled at all day, but there are so many great things to see and do in the area. Wayne, Ingrid and all the staff are brilliant at what they do. A fantastic experience showcasing the best...

The owners of the property, Wayne and Engrid, are lovely. The property is first class. The food and service is over the top. We also stayed at Huka Logde for two nights after staying one night at Solitaire. HOWEVER, we came back for two more nights to Soliatrie because it was so special. The boat, the food, the hikes, the...

Highly recommend this beautiful place. Tranquil location and lovely people. Wayne was incredibly accommodating with our group and nothing was a problem. Stunning food both dinner and breakfast. Would definitely return to this lodge. Very comparable to Huka standards.

Stayed two nights here in late September and realized I had not posted our thoughts about our stay at the Solitaire Lodge. It’s a spectacular setting on a narrow spit of land jutting into Lake Tarawera, just outside of Rotorua. This was our first stop on week long trip through the North Island. We were shown to a wonderful suite...

Drive through the gates and you have access to many wonderful premium experiences which I found is the key to this lodge. Wonderful service and food. Many opportunities to tick off items on your bucket list from this location. Rooms with stunning views of the lake. The pristine lake is a very special natural resource to which the lodge provides...

We had a lovely overnight stay at this special place recently, and had a truly memorable experience. We were looked after by attentive hosts Wayne and Ingrid, and enjoyed a fabulous 5 course dinner with matching wines. We appreciated the lodge's setting, surrounded by native bush on an arm of the lake, and were very sorry to be leaving so...

After all the positive reports on tripadvisor and the likes, we were going to stay at Solitaire for 2 nights last week. The couple who run the place a lovely people but their lodge has seen it's best days many moons ago. It has the touch of a bed and breakfast but at the cost of an upmarket lodge. The...

We welcome and appreciate all reviews and comments given during our 6 years of management. We believe this review is incomplete, - hence our response. Solitaire Lodge operates a Full Board Tariff (accommodation, all meals,, complimentary mini-bar etc.). It employs senior skilled chefs as well as other staff and has never operated as a bed and breakfast.. As the guests...

Solitaire Lodge is a dreamy sort of place: the rooms are quite divine, the amenities first class, the staff delightful, welcoming and fun. We enjoyed our room with it's outdoor bathtub - quirky, but nice - for it's intelligent layout, very comfortable bed, nicely arranged bath; very soothing and relaxing. Graham was wonderful and informative; thoughtful, professional and has great...

Solitaire Lodge truly has it all! Fantastic location, superb attentive service, endless tailor made activities (fishing, boating, swimming, thermal springs ), gourmet food, gorgeous accommodation and, because Solitaire only has 10 rooms, you will never feel part of a crowd. The private location on Lake Tarawera absolutely cant be beat! Wayne and Indrid are wonderful lodgekeepers and hosts. Our room...
