We stayed for 2 nights in this clean, quiet comfortable motel. Tristen is a great host and was very helpful and good to deal with. Room was comfortable and the kitchen well decked out. It's just off the main road and very quiet. We used the private spa, which was fabulous after a long drive from Wellington. It's a small establishment...

Stayed here for two nights, in a room with its own spa, which was bigger than we'd expected, and very welcome after a long drive. Very friendly and helpful owners, with some great recommendations on places to eat and activities to consider. Nice small motel, just off the main strip, which made it feel a bit more relaxed. No complaints...

We were really impressed with our stay in the Sport of Kings Motel, which was sadly only for one night. The lady that greeted us at reception was lovely, giving us a tour of the place and bringing us over some freshly ground coffee and fresh milk. The apartments were spacious and as it was our honeymoon we treated ourselves...

We arrived late, due to our mix up by us on dates, which was a shame as it was so nice. My husband enjoyed the spa pool. Shame we didn't have time to use the swimming pool. Great room, lovely quiet area. The owners were very helpful, helping us pay on line our fine for having our car towed in...

We stayed for three nights and Tristan and Peter were open, generous and completely genuine throughout. We felt “part of the family” without any suggestion of lack of privacy or intrusion. Nothing was too much trouble, including us dropping over to reception for coffee that was ground on request. Talk about fresh! The rooms are maintained to a high standard...

Travelled as a Coke with a friend we shared one bedroom with tub. Upon arriving after quite a long journey, was greeted warmly at reception and offered lots of advice as to where to visit locally and great local knowledge was a great help. Room was clean and well appointed and hot tub was 'hot'. A nice surprise was the...

Booked into Sport of Kings for 4 night, we had an one bedroom apartment with our own private sauna. Our whole experience in this motel couldn't have been better, the owners were most helpful in helping us plan what to do & giving us advice & recommendations. The location of the Sport of Kings was in a really quiet area,...

We had a bit of a debacle on the previous day with a hotel booking in Hamilton and were relieved to get friendly, helpful and efficient service in Rotorua. The rooms have all the facilities you would need but it was a pity that we did not have time to try the spa pool.

The reviews are accurate, This motel deserves its top rating. The rooms are extremely comfortable, and recently refurbished. The beds are excellent. Cleanliness is tops. The showers are great. The street is appropriately named, as it is quiet, being just off the main drag, The hosts are incredibly warm and welcoming. What more could one want? Oh, I forgot, the...

The staff were great, Tristan particularly who was very helpful. The rooms are good and the thermally heated pool was a real bonus. A good walk into town, about a kilometre. There is a bus. Supermarkets nearby.
