I don’t even know where to start.. we ended up at this 💩 hole as the place we thought we had booked fell thru. Charged 350 for a scabby 2 bedroom foul smelling rundown room. Decided to leave 2 mins after checking in. Reception locked, had to phone them to get them to come down, which ended in a massive argument even before they arrived at reception. These people should not be in business. Did not want to hear our concerns, where aggressive and so rude “ I know care” was all I got from there terrible English and only got a refund of 250. I thought he was going to hit me. I took the 250 and left shaking. Sleep in your car or a homeless shelter if you must - either would be considered 5 star compared to this 💩 hole.

Me and my family stayed for a week. Arrived to check in at 2.30pm no on at reception, doors locked which is very unusual i rang the bell waited for 20mins for the lady to come out the realised Sheryl & Bill no longer own it. I had booked room 5 6months ahead as it has been my go to place when coming to rotorua. She said its already gone and there is no more rooms only a 1 bedroom unit Room 1 for extra $40 a day. I said no thanks can i get a refund please? Then she said wait we do have a room no extra charge!!!(the 2 rooms next to me were also empty). The room was clean upon arrival, noticed a broken powerpoint in the kitchen and lounge but was advised just not to use it. Asked to be transferred to another room as i had my children with me but couldn't. below units have permanent residence, very noisey at night but lovely people!! Internet is limited not unlimited, NO SKY,reception locked 24/7, the owner is rude and always grumpy!! Bad Customer Service. Asked to use the guest laundry but once i put it in the washing machine i had to ring her 1hr 30mins later for her to unlock it and dry for another 2hrs for her to unlock the door as she had visitors at her house. Went to the dry cleaners after that!!! The only thing me and my children loved was the spa, we used it every single night of our stay and how close it is to everything. the cleaner does not vaccume properly as i always made the beds and cleaned the dishes just leaving them to vaccume but never did. The only thing they did was change the towels. I will definitely not come back to this place again. Definitely not worth the price i paid for.…

I don't even know where to start with this review. This is BY FAR the worst accommodation I've ever stayed in. The male owner is rude, arrogant, nasty and completely and utterly self-centred. Final check in time was 7pm - yet we received FOUR phone calls on 8 hour drive up to see 'where we were' (and we still got there before the 7pm cut off time). This was purely because he wanted to know if he could sell the room to someone else. DISGUSTING. Once we got there, both the front and rear outside bulbs were blown - had to get them replaced. Went to make ourselves a coffee, to find dirty mugs in the cupboard.. GROSS. Then when it came to bed time, we pulled the duvet back to find FRESH BLOOD STAINS on both our sheet and pillowcase. We were asked if we wanted them changed - are you joking?! He came back with ONE sheet.. We had to specifically request the second sheet. Roll on the morning, we went outside (we arrived once dark, so couldn't see the courtyard properly) to find glass in our 'private' courtyard (which is totally NOT private, with at least 4 windows able to see in). When we mentioned this - we were told that WE put it there, which we certainly did not. From here, we were asked to leave!!!! Because we found blown bulbs, bloodstains, dirty dishes and broken glass - he didn't like being called out on it and told us to leave. I have never been so angry and humiliated in my life - my children were witness to all of this happening. Absolutely mind-blown that this outfit is still in business and excessively disappointed that this horrible man single-handedly ruined our first family holiday.…

This motel is quite tired, very basic amenities. We had the family room which was the closest one to the main road - not ideal for families with young children as it was quite noisy in the morning. Am sure you could find better quality for the same price.

Lovely environment hassel free and quick check in. The spa pool was great, lovely and hot and we used it before we went out and when we got back that night. Quick to fill up and loads of room to lay back and relax.

Like so many older places, this one is on a fast downwards slope with the current owner. Appalling customer service and zero guest relations here. The reception area is often locked up and you have to knock and ring a buzzer whilst waiting outside. The lady owner clearly does not like being disturbed by a guest. I had to point out the reception hours to her on the sign at the door and I got told "they old hours". English is a second language here. Then I asked to talk with her, she was on a phone call at the time and I said "when you are finished the call please can I speak with you". "No" she said "what you want". All this time her caller would have heard everything, she refused to end the phone call and when I had finished talking about my checkout dates, she literally flipped me off and went back to her phone call. She reminds me of Basil Fawlty. Rude and ignorant. Then my unit had no hot water on the last morning, along with lights not working in the bathroom, wobbly fridge with broken feet and a hopeless daily room service. The maintenance is definitely non-evident. This motel should be avoided at all costs, unless you like arguments with the owner and bad service. There are many other options in Rotorua for your stay. Guests do not appear to be welcomed here at all sadly.…

We used to be regular guests at Geneva Motor Lodge and it was always our preferred motel as it was very clean, good amenities and the managers were lovely. We haven't stayed at the Geneva for a couple of years so thought given our past experiences we would stay there again - that was a mistake! The first impression on arrival at approx 7pm wasn't good as the office door was locked, they say reception is open until about 9.30. Once inside reception the lady was rude and abrupt. The reception area smelt and was full of junk behind the front desk - it used to be immaculate. The rooms while still similar to how they were last time we stayed decor wise have began to deteriorate and the level of cleanliness was no where near as good as it used to be. The general feel of the motel as others say is unloved and run down. We will never stay at Geneva again.…

Rooms are clean and would be fine for a family. Given that the devil is in the detail. The outside of this motel is more of an unloved concrete jungle. We visited during a warm spell. The rooms were stiflingly hot and there's no way to cool them down. No fans and no air con. Windows are not really an option because this place is also NOISY! Fenton Street traffic is in the back ground but that does at least calm down at about 10 pm. Unfortunately still expect to hear your neighbours "bodily functions" and their TV. It's supposed to be non smoking rooms but that sure doesn't stop someone sitting out side your window and puffing away. Don't assume everything works. There are plenty of places to stay now In Rotorua. The Geneva won't be one we will return to.

Everything was very old and dated. The motel is sitting on a busy road, so it was pretty noisy especially if you leave the windows open. But we had to leave them open as there was no air conditioning, it was very hot! The owner is different from the listing, the new Chinese owner has rather rude attitude, you don’t feel you are welcomed. We felt this current management has no experience in this kind of hospitality business.

Location is good, but the rooms and furniture were pretty run-down. Not much hospitable attitude. We had to ask for a spare roll around 10:30pm when we found there was no spare roll and the roll on the holder was getting thin in the bathroom. But the owner was very unhappy, she could still scream at us when we went to check-out. She complained us that we disturbed them after hours. Any hospitality business people usually apologize such an inconvenience first, but they complain first before the customers comments. There was no air-conditioning, and one electric fan was broken! Very poor quality both in service and facility. We will NEVER go back there AGAIN.
