I have just returned after a week long stay at Ducks and Drakes in one of their 'cosy single' rooms. I have never stayed at hostel type accommodation before, and was unsure what to expect, but I have to say it definitely exceeded all my expectations. The room was very clean, comfortable and equipped with everything I needed. The bathroom...

Our visit to New Plymouth provided fog, rain, rain and rain. But our stay at Ducks & Drakes made up for everything. We were happily surprised to find ourselves in a studio and not in the double room we had booked (at the same price). Staff are very helpful, the atmosphere is cozy and eveything the city has to offer...

The hostel is close to the inner city and even closer to shops and pukekura Park. The Living room is nice and they have two cool dogs. However there are a few things that annoyed me. There are not enough bathrooms and toilets as well as plugs. The Wifi is advertised as Ultra Fast but it is very far away...

Good value-for-money accommodation. Right in the middle of the city. An easy drive to Egmont National Park. The place has a homely feel with a comfortable beds and a good kitchen and living area. Would recommend to others.

Had a great two night stay to explore the Taranaki region. Great location, walkable to most attractions in New Plymouth, and heaps of off street parking if you need. Stayed in the cottages to the side of the main hostel, recommended for those wanting to be self-catered in a private room.

The Ducks & Drakes hostel is a beatiful hostel with a nice livingroom and cosy chilloutarea. The beds are warm and soft AND you get a fluffy towel each day which is amazing for a backpacker. The sauna is 5$ and two people fit in there.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights in one of the cottages, which had a kitchen/sitting room and a separate bedroom. There is enough space for 2 people but 3 might be tripping over each other. The kitchen is basic but suitable for breakfasts and simple meals. My only disappointment is that the kitchen area was not as clean as...

We booked a twin room with shared bathroom at the very last moment. The hostel was really clean, stylish, colourfully decorated and with friendly helpful staff. It has huge well equipped kitchen, drawer full of board games and cute dogs. Good location close to Pak'n'Save, Countdown or New World and to the city cafes and restaurants. If we had more...

We stayed both in the backpackers and then a stay of 10 days in a very spacious and comfortable studio apartment. The whole place is beautifully run by the most welcoming hosts ever. Rooms are fitted out with style, fittings are stylish and high quality, rooms are serviced daily with clean towels and great cleaning service. Backpackers had lots of...
