We have just spent 3 nights at Wairakei Resort after not having been for eighteen months. Accommodation fantastic, great value and we were even upgraded. Outdoor pool complex is just awesome, clean and so relaxing. This is certainly a great venue for couples, business, conferences alike and quite peaceful even when busy with conferences. I think Wairakei resort is "like... More

We had spent most of the day hiking the Tongariro, so were looking forward to soothing the muscles and warming up in the thermal pools. The pools were great, varying temperatures to work your way up to, with the hottest being about how long You could stay in before melting. The only issue was the limited showers, only a single... I stayed here two nights while on business. Room was quite generous in size with two double beds and very clean and tidy. I was in the multi storey block which was very well presented, clean and fresh. While it was extremely cold when I was here the room had great heating so was warm and cosy. Bar and restaurant... All good and efficient check-in ...Felix did great job with helping with my requests. Did not spend much time within the hotel however highlight was dinner. In room dining far improved and request for the chef to change the risotto for my son was happily done, in fact they asked what flavor he would like. Such a pleasant experience and... More

After being chilled in this New Zealand winter it was so nice to take a soak in these beautiful thermal pools. For $25 you can stay as long as you like.Other places give you limited time. The pools range from the hottest at 40 degrees C and lower. There are three large pools. Bring a towel or hirer one for... More

Have just stayed weekend at Wairakei Resort Hotel for a family function and found the hotel villa rooms upgraded and the Saturday night meal exceptionally good. Pools great, recommend for a family get together.

Stayed just for one night to break up a long journey. Place is getting a bit tired but room is comfortable (beds are great). Spa pools are warm but again a bit tired. Our deal included breakfast which was the normal fare but plenty of it, well presented and the hot dishes are hot (not always the case in some... More

Stayed one night - concierge was unorganized, inefficient and unapologetic for it. Rooms small and dank. Pricey and too far away from taupo township. somewhere else as there are plenty of better options in taupo.

We stayed here christmas 2011 and had a pleasant time. Second time around we still really like the place. It is quiet, relaxing and comfortable. The rooms are nicely furnished and provide everything you need. Wifi has a good speed. Our highlight this time was a swim in drizzling cool weather in the heated outside pool. Very enjoyable. We chose... More

Taupo is a beautiful place - but I did not see much. I visited Wairakei Resort for a conference. Rooms: My room, and the rooms I saw, were not overly modern, but they were certainly adequate. Good water pressure, iron/ironing board, quiet, spacious, good bed, big enough TV, and good WiFi signal strength. There were not many TV channels -... More
