Ok with some bits ready for improvement. Air conditioning not adequate for the morning sun which warmed our room excessively. Needs exhaust fan in bathroom. But comfortable bed & furnishings, adequate room, good hotel facilities, & great situation in downtown Wellington.

I usually choose to stay at the James Cook whenever I'm in Wellington for business. The main reason for my choice is that the location is close to our head office, the other reason i prefer to stay at JC is my special connection with Pacific staff at the Whitby restaurant. Rosa (matron ) and Lua (Chef) always welcome me...

This is a great location when in Wellington for a function in inner city Wellington. Easy to get to from the airport using public transport, walking distance to Te Papa and the Lambton Quay shops. Car parking is easy to use. Breakfast is a great way to start the day. We will be back:)

Great location, very central to shops and waterfront. Always try and stay here as have always had good service, staff are very friendly. Check in and check out were fast and efficient. Rooms are a little dated but clean and tidy and well priced. We had breakfast included in our room rate and the Buffet Breakfast was very good, staff...

We really enjoyed our stay at James Cook. Our room was spacious & clean. The hotel is an excellent location with direct access to Lampton Quay. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again.

James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor is a very nice hotel. Staff are friendly. Breakfast is great. The building is old but the room is very nice and clean. The location is great. The internet is a bit slow though.

Spent three nights here on business. Very clean and comfortable room and service. The bathroom lacked a toilet brush which sounds minor but is a non-negotiable for a hotel bathroom, I feel. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

Overall good stay, room was clean, floor was quiet. Check-in went well wait was not too long. Dropped off our bags on the way to the office which made it a lot easier. The food was good as well, only downside was room service number was not answered after I tried three times.

Very disappointing. On arrival we had been given our room we go to our room and open the door to find someone was already staying in our room, we got given another room. If you allow them to take your car for parking make sure you lock it your self because the hotel didn't lock our car all night and...

Although I rate the James Cook hotel highly, this time the stay was not good. The room assigned to me was noisy with all sorts of noises coming from the AC duct. On checking out when I mentioned this to the receptionist, she did seem to care
