The location is very nice. You can meet a lot of people. Very good facilities and someone cleans the kitchen every day! Irish bar just downstairs and staff is very nice. If looking for a backpacker job, don't go see Kevin at peaceheaven, he is just a big scam promising the moon and helming with nothing.

They have a private bathroom in every room that is much appreciated. Common kitchen, and a good cleaning staff. The WiFi is bad, only 1gb per week. Anyway, very good for working holidays or young backpackers, if you like party during weekends.

Very basic, slightly grubby, dated decor, poor wifi connection and uncomfortable beds. However, when you consider the low price for longer term stays compared with other backpackers, the plentiful ensuites and the decent security, I think the rest is acceptable. My main complaint is their lack of noise regulation, as other guests were still noisly partying in a nearby common...

I stayed at Biddy Kate's while working a wine harvest in Blenheim. This was my fifth season working in Blenheim, and I had previously stayed at Duncannon, and was fed up and wanted something better. Moved into Biddy Kate's and really enjoyed it. Only two beds in my room, and each room has it's own bathroom. The kitchen was expanded...

I stayed for one week in December. The rooms are old motel rooms with bunk beds that haven't been refurbished in a long time. Not enough outlets, no reading lamps, etc. The ensuite is a nice touch but mine didn't even have a properly working toilet. I had to hit it with a hammer if it wouldn't stop running. Right...

Very cheap private room with ensuite and shower, quiet and plenty of storage and space. Tea and coffe in the rooms also. Comfy lounge area with plenty of sofas, television, games and books. Nice balcony area with more seating, tables and a bbq, good for when the sun is shining.

Super friendly staff at the bar offered us a double room in the backpackers upstairs. Cute little room with a private bathroom for the same price as most dorm beds in town. Perfect location as its right in the heart of the little city. Nice little kitchen with a great balcony and BBQ. Also a comfy TV Lounge. Really enjoyed...

The recent good reviews in 2015 are probably bias, as this hostel (ex hotel) offered discount to long term guests if they leave a favourable reviews on TripAdvisor. Reviews that are older in 2013 still holds true, it is still pretty runned down when we stayed in Aug 2015. It really needs a good make over. it could have given...

The room was very old and worn and clearly not looked after. The kitchen was gross unclean and messy, we were too disgusted to even make a cup of tea in there. Only positive thing was service (and price of the room). Can't recommend.
