Based on previous reviews we had read we weren't too sure whether to stay here or not, but as it was the cheapest hostel on offer and we were only there for one night we thought, how bad could it really be?? The hostel is FINE, whilst it is no luxury hotel - for the price you cannot complain. It...

Value stay, good enough to sleep the night through. The location was just ok, no stunning views. The accommodation was very basic and cleaniness was not the best! Hot water in the showers was a plus. Just average, really.

It was really cheap, the beds were comfortable and it was clean. The kitchen is big enough, a little bit dirty but not too bad. The staff was really lovely. Nothing to complain about. A close supermarket, but the city isn't around the corner, we got a car so it wasn't a problem and a bus stop is nearby the...

The lovely doddery old gentleman manager has been replaced by the more than capable Shona. A woman of Scottish descent, she has considerable local knowledge which she imparts to all who ask. The place is homely, Still bearing signs of the earthquakes, but improves overtime I visit. The last time was my fifth and in the words of Arnie -...

This is not a hotel. It is a big house that has turned into a backpackers. For backpackers however, it wasnt bad at all. We got a private room, and it honestly felt like a sleepover at a friends house. The bed was very comfortable and nicely made, we had a wardrobe, lamps and a bed side table. The bathroom...

The good: Nice woman at the reception. Very welcoming The bad: Dirty, toilet under average... The ugly: This is the main reason I didn't want to stay there and I left the hostel in less than 30mins... I couldn't find a socket to charge my mobile and I went to the reception to ask for help. A man received me...

This accommodation was a real disappointment. The lady who booked us in was friendly and helpful but this place is a dive. The bedrooms are musty, the bathrooms largely ramshackle and the kitchen should be condemned as it is a filthy mess. This place feels like a run-down retirement home and is home to people looking for a job and...

We arrived late in Christchurch. And (as luck would have it) were met by the elderly gentleman who owns the place at the airport. It was a cold, wet, and windy night. We were very grateful to be given the free lift into town and key to a warm room. The Bed was comfortable, the room had a new tv...

Tranquil Lodge had a pretty bad rating in other website, but i thought how bad could it be just for one night...? Well i was so wrong..! From the moment we entered the Lodge we knew we are stepping into something bad. As soon as you enter you notice the lodge is dirty. The hall way is bad. Kitchen of...

The good: The person who greeted us was very, very nice. Our bed was comfortable. There was a working sink in our room. The bed did not have bedbugs. The bad: The bathroom - a disaster. The shower barely dribbled water down the mildewed wall and rotten wood windowsill. The kitchen area was pretty gross. Lots of little things damaged...
