We were one of many thousands of people who were sent to Christchurch when Auckland airport was under water. We were not lucky enough to get any accommodation the first night in Christchurch and our airline just left us to our devices. Which meant sleeping on the floor or bench with our kids at Christchurch airport. We did manage to get two rooms at the Crowne Plaza Christchurch for the second night and the team at the hotel were amazing as people continued to flood into the hotel. We slept in the foyer near the open fire place and then had a beautiful breakfast while we waited for our room to be ready. The hotel staff looked after our luggage and then our room was ready at 1.30pm The staff at the desk kept apologising for the rooms taking so long to be done, but the hotel basically turned over every room that night and they did a great job of looking after us in the meantime. Our room service lunch was lovely as was our dinner. We were entitled to breakfast with our room rate, but we had to be at the airport at 4am. So we were offered a grab and go pack instead. The king size bed was so comfortable. The rooms were spacious, clean, quiet and had beautiful views from our room. Our room had a padded window seat that was very comfortable to is ton and watch the traffic go by below. Our shower had electric frosted glass to give privacy to the bathroom or clear to give a larger feel to the room. The room had no noice from outside for between rooms. I can't thank the team at the Crowne Plaza Christchurch enough for their care, concern, effort, patience and kindness to travellers with children who were clearly in distress. I would stay at this hotel in a heartbeat if we ever go back to Christchurch.…
Stayed for 1 night when starting a tour of NZ. We were late arriving, but the staff were very frindly. The was very comfortable and clean just what we needed after long flights. The bathroom was all glass so the person in the bedroom could see into the shower and toilet! luckily there is an electronic blind. Breakfast was a buffet wich had plenty of choice and was well organised. The hotel is well located with a nice park and gardens close by, perfect of walking off the jet lag.
Very nice room on 14th floor with panoramic views across city and to Southern Alps. Window seat is a nice idea. Bathroom very nice. Oddly had a glass wall so you could see into bedroom and vice versa. (There was a blind if you wanted privacy). Staff were very friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was excellent. Lots of choices including Aoraki salmon.
Ideally located just off cathedral square, check in very efficient and 6th floor room was comfy and clean. Used the restaurant for breakfast , buffet style and evening meal once. Food was a lamb roast sharing dish which was beautifully cooked. Check out very speedy and overall a very good hotel to use.
Total disregard for being a gold IHG member with decades-long preference of high floor, but this stay being put onto the lowest floor. I can bear no view at all but ended up looking straight into another guest's room with windows only maybe 3m apart. Crazy for a hotel so newly built to allow that to even be a part of the design! No help from reception to try and find a room on a higher level. Third stay at this hotel and no problem before but this stay was the worst IHG experience over 30 years of travelling for me. Not even milk provided in the room.. very sad since it is mostly a nice hotel.
Good location. The buffet breakfast was pretty good on the whole, with a reasonable variety on offer. The room was clean and comfortable enough but the view ….. was horrendous! After travelling from Britain we had hoped for a reasonable view. What greeted us when we looked through the window was another room window and a wall. We were not offered another room even though we contacted reception. Avoid room 317 if you want a view.
Great stay in a hotel very close to the CBD. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. Room was great with nice en-suite. Overlooking park outside. Parking is next door at $25 per night. Shame this can’t be discounted for several nights stay. Didn’t try restaurant.
Came here for two nights for business. The check in process was very easy. They took my luggage and as the room wasn't ready and delivered it to the room whilst I was in meetings and when I arrived back in the early evening gave me my key in minutes. Great views from the room and has all the pieces you would need including a wind up torch in the cupboard. Black out blinds and curtains and choice of pillows was great. The breakfast buffet was ample and lots of space. Can't fault anything. Had a really great experience and would definitely stay here again..
A great location but the rooms are pretty average. Breakfast was included and was just the usual - the barista coffee was amazing. All the staff were very welcoming & efficient. We decided to have a dessert after dinner & decided against it the moment we heard the price.
After spending a week at the dreadful Holiday Inn Express in Queenstown, we were glad to finally get a good night sleep at the Crowne Plaza Christchurch. Check was smooth, room was clean (albeit a few hairs on the bathroom ceiling which were not ours) and the bed was very comfortable. We didn't eat at this hotel as it's only a short walk to all the restaurants within the CBD. It is a small compact city centre so walking anywhere was easy.
