I stayed one night and was very pleased. The garden is gorgeous. I enjoyed the spa and a delicious omelette! Thanks for the rides from the bus stop and to the airport. The garden room and bathroom are super spacious.

Denis and Pam were excellent hosts during our stay. They really make us feel like home with their warm personalities. They were accommodating, and ready to assist us in many ways, for example fetching us to and from the airport, helping us book restaurants. Pam and Denis breakfast were excellent! The rooms were very well maintained as well. Thumbs up!... More

I stayed with Pam and Dennis 3 days at the end of my vacation in New Zealand and it was a great finish. I had the attic room and just loved it. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom even had heated floors! The garden was beautiful and there was a hot tub avallable. Pam and Dennis made me feel at... More

We stayed just one night but were totally impressed with the friendliness of Pam and Dennis, the quality of both the accommodation and, more particularly, Dennis's biscuits served with a cup of tea on arrival. Everything was perfect.

We stayed at the Lilac Rose for two nights at the end of our eight week journey through Australia and New Zealand. High standard accommodation - we stayed in the Garden Room, which as its name suggests has french doors leading to the garden. Private bathroom is separate, but immediately next door to bedroom. Bedroom and bathroom are well equipped.... More

The couple running it is so warm and helpful. They make you an alla carte breakfast in their supper cute kitchen annex dining / living room. They even had a soy milk for us which is handy as we are both lactose allergic. The room was pretty, cozy; the bathroom is equipped with all you might need and want, including... More

We spent in total three nights at Lilac and it was the perfect kick-off into our vacation. Denis surprised us with his generous offer to pick-us up and drop us from/to the airport. The B&B is conveniently located with only a 10 minute drive to the airport and a 10 minute bus drive to the city of Christchurch. Pam and... More

Pick up and drop off to the airport was unexpected but so very helpful. Proximity to shopping and bus routes is perfect. (The city is only $3 away.) Pam and Denis' home is delightful and their hospitality is naturally forthcoming. Thank you.

My husband and I stayed at the Lilac Rose Bed & Breakfast with our two friends on vacation this past August. The house is really beautiful with lots of character and very well maintained. We enjoyed just admiring the trim, décor, and ambience that this historic home offered. We had a room downstairs with a private bathroom. The beds were... More

This house and its magnificent garden are gorgeous and Pam and Dennis are great hosts. Dennis's breakfast was the equivalent of a fancy cafe breakfast. We drew the short straw of the tiny upstairs attic room without a private bathroom but it was still nice despite hitting our heads and shoulders on the ceiling several times(!)...and the bed was great,...
