Chateau on the Park is an excellent hotel with attentive service, a convenient location, well appointed rooms, tranquil gardens and great food and beverage service. I would highly recommend this hotel to all travellers who want to enjoy a memorable stay in Christchurch. Security ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amenity ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ambience ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Value ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Proximity ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Large hotel with lovely gardens and pond. A little impersonal . Location meant it was a15 minute walk across the park to get into town. Extremely clean. Breakfast had a good selection but the coffee was terrible and mugs all had chips in them and one staff member Karen was very efficient pushing add on’s and harassing people to sign bills. I stupidly left 3 items in the wardrobe on realising 2 days later I phoned customer services who said they would investigate and email me back. I heard nothing so called again 1 day later and talked to housekeeping. They also said they would email ( I checked my email address) again heard nothing !!!
This is the 2nd time we've stayed here and it probably won't be the last Check in was easy (as was check out) and we were given a room on the 3rd floor The rooms are very spacious with a generous closet with plenty of hanging space, large desk / bench, large flat screen TV and a cupboard with a fridge and tea / coffee making facilities, and the bed was very comfortable. They were happy to provide an extra pillow when we requested one. The TV had a large array of channels which was good. Airconditioning was great and the room was always nice and cool when we came back to it The pool area was very nice and the pool itself was also good - esapecially on those hot summer afternoons! Our room had a view overlooking the rear carpark, but that wasn't an issue for us - we actually liked the location this room because it was easy access to the restaurant for breakfast and to the car park The only very minor issue we had was our room had a shower over bath and it was quite a big step up to actually get into the bath. Also some of the 'hot food' items at the breakfast buffet weren't that hot, but the selection available for Breakfast was very good and well worth paying a little extra to get it included. The Location of this hotel is key - right opposite Hagley park and within easy access to the CBD we would happily stay here again…
We stayed here for three nights in March 2023. The hotel is located opposite Hagley Park, which means that there is not much around (it's mostly residential). However, Hagley Park is a real asset in Christchurch, great for walking or running. It's just a pleasant 20-minute walk across Hagley Park into the central city. So, it's not convenient if you want to go out to a restaurant or nearby shop, but the hotel's access to the park and easy drive to/from the airport make up for that. The drive to the airport can be quite quick - 10 minutes in light traffic and about $27 with Uber (although it cost $41 to get from the airport to the hotel on a weekday morning during peak hour). The hotel is very large with conference facilities and an on-site bar and restaurant. I also saw a desk with a computer and printer (not sure if they charge for that). There are gardens within the hotel, so it's a nice place to sit outside to enjoy the sun. In the reception/entrance area there are also lots of comfortable seats to relax, read a book, or to wait for people. There was a good selection of not-too-expensive bar food. Our room was comfortable with a safe (which did not work!), iron, ironing board, tea and coffee facilities, TV, wifi, desk etc. The bed was extremely comfortable. We were on the ground floor and were able to open our door to walk out into the garden. Staff members were friendly. This is a good place to stay if you have a car and enjoy walking into the city across Hagley Park.…
Our room had no air conditioning, very hot. At first we were told maintenance was called but later found out they were gone for the day. They brought us fans that helped a little. Very disappointed in manager’s response to our problem with the air conditioning.
The Chateau on the Park in Christchurch is a charming hotel for business or pleasure. The grounds look like a mini garden with several water fountains among the beautiful flowering shrubs. Our room was comfortable with a view of the garden. The hotel is located across the street from the famous park and Botanical Gardens. Food was delicious and the service made us feel valued.
Very relaxing stay on a beautiful property with friendly staff. Enjoyed a nice dinner at the restaurant and a comfortable stay in renovated rooms. One minor downside was a slightly uncomfortable mattress.
The hotel is set amongst some lovely grounds with a. Beautiful garden we really enjoyed sitting in to bask in the February sunshine. The staff at reception and in the bar / restaurant were all so welcoming and friendly. It was a bit of a trek to the City Centre for an evening meal, but we found a really good nearby restaurant. The park was however a lovely place to spend time or just walk through to get to the City. Breakfast was really great value and compared much better than some that we had. Housekeeping team all friendly and rooms immaculate. What a great start to our visit in New Zealand
We landed with jetlag after many hours in the air and arrived to a warm welcome at the hotel. We were lucky to obtain an early check-in and fell into a very comfortable bed in a darkened and quiet room and slept for a couple of hours. We had a garden suite room, looking out over the pool where took our chairs in the afternoon and sat and read in peace and quiet. Beautiful gardens set out in very English style. We ate in the dining room later and enjoyed the meal. A real oasis of peaceful calm and quiet, and we enjoyed every minute.
We stayed here for just one night at the start of our New Zealand South Island tour. As the name suggests the hotel is located on the edge of the park, which borders the main city centre - it’s an approximate 20 -25 minute across the park to reach the city. This worked ok for us, we quite enjoyed the walk in the sunshine but it may not be so much fun in the rain or on a cold day. Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and accommodating, our room was very comfortable and quiet, perhaps in need of a refurbishment at some stage but quite acceptable for the price paid. Breakfast was good- lots of choices hot and cold, with options for eggs cooked to order too. The gardens are really nice, and very carefully maintained - lots of water features and colourful plants, and a swimming pool too. In summary, a good value choice for a short stay in Christchurch. …
