We have just had 4 days staying at the Heritage Hotel, in a 2 bedroom suite. Stunning is the only word to describe our stay. From the moment of arriving to departing, you are made to feel welcome. The suites are 100%. The décor is perfect, extremely comfortable beds and great linen. It is the most beautiful building to stay...

5 stars all the way!!! The area has been damaged by the earthquake but this hotel is fantastic. The rooms, decor, friendliness are second to none. DO NOT let the earthquake torn areas scare you away from here, go and be supportive of this area of fine people and enjoy a great stay at this hotel

A return to this hotel after three years and it continues to grow. Very welcoming and spacious with new bar and restaurant owners. A reasonable choice of food - but there are plenty of others nearby - and a pool and gym for those inclined. My first choice for a hotel in town.

We had the most wonderful stay at the Heritage Christchurch - one of the most beautifully restored heritage hotels I have ever had the privilege to stay at...it was breathtaking! We had a loft-style suite with a gorgeous king-sized bed and every detail was lovely - dentil crown molding, a full kitchen with laundry in the bathroom, etc. Every detail...

Stayed here one night on the very last day of our holiday. I was depressed by the surrounding area, seeing the beautiful Anglican cathedral damaged and boarded up so many years after the earthquake. And along nearby streets, more buildings that look derelict and covered with grafitti while awaiting demolition. Not a great first impression when you arrive at this...

Stayed here for two nights in early March, lovely hotel with big rooms and nice facilities. Very close to the CBD and all attractions. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Restaurant had just changed hands so menu was a bit restricted. Had a nice continental buffet breakfast with choice of al la carte hot breakfast, everything was cooked well....

We had been on a bus tour of NZ and the hotel where we stayed on the last night was full for the extra days that we were in Christchurch so we stayed here. It is centrally located and within an easy walk of all that we wanted to see. The building is over 100 years old and retains its...

I really enjoyed this beautiful hotel. I chose it for the convenience to City Centre, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a two-floor suite (living/kitchen/dining on main floor; bed and bath upstairs). I was there over a weekend so I did not experience undue traffic or construction noise, so I enjoyed the ambience as well as the friendly staff....

It is an old building, well maintained but in need of a facelift. If you have a street room it is very noisy!. The windows are old which will allow you to hear every early morning garbage truck, or emergency veichel that goes down the street with sirens blaring! The room is not very dark, if you like a dark...

WE liked this hotel, but have some reservations. We, loved how it had been converted and the the outside music bar scene was very enjoyable. Staff was very responsive. My biggest bugaboo was the soft beds. I have back problems and need a firm bed. The bed was so soft I had to pull it off the springs and lay...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Christchurch is a long way from the Mediterranean - nevertheless, the opulence of an Italian High Renaissance Palazzo awaits you at the Heritage Christchurch. Designed by Joseph Clark Maddison and opened in 1913, the hotel is listed as a category one building on the Historic Places Trust Register, reflecting its status as a building of national significance. The hotel's grand design is fitting: after all, Christchurch is regarded as the Garden City, and is regarded internationally for its culture and refinement. ... more   less
