The building itself is beautiful beyond words. The suite was large and comfortable and all the amenities were a nice touch. The bed was extremely comfortable. Location wise it was a short walk to everything around the CBD. The room service from the Japanese Restaurant was delicious also! The only con is that the instructions for the washer/dryer were not...

I do like this hotel, the staff are friendly, large rooms, great location. The olny thing missing is a bar and restaurant for dinner. Saying that you can walk 5-10 minutes to great restaurants. Beautiful old building with lots of history. Would stay here again.

The hotel was beautiful but the room was just so hot... They have a ceiling fan, but with no windows to open & no air conditioning... It felt like we were in an oven! We had to check out! Just couldn't stand the heat & with a 2 year old we could not leave the door open either for fresh...

Dear Natasha P, Thank you for placing feedback on TripAdvisor after your stay in earlier this month. It is a pleasure to read that you found our hotel beautiful, however I was very disappointed to read that you found your suite hot & stuffy. Beautiful heritage building, carefully upgraded to provide all amenities in room. Full cooking, dining and laundry facilities within a huge bedroom suite. Staff could not be more helpful. No bar or restaurant facilities, apart from a la carte breakfast due to so few guests downtown. However, well stocked minibar and eating/drinking options on the doorstep. Thoroughly recommend

Stayed for one night on business in this historic hotel. The room was very large and well appointed, there was a small kitchen in the room and a washing machine if needed. It is centrally located and in walking distance to some great cafes and restaurants. I will be staying again on my next trip.

Designed by Joseph Clark Maddison and opened in 1913, the hotel is listed as a category one building on the Historic Places Trust Register, reflecting its status as a building of national significance.
