We stayed at the George 6 years ago on our first honeymoon, and returned here to start and end our month long second honeymoon around the South Island. As usual, the facility was excellent, and the service outstanding. Make sure you try the smoked salmon on the breakfast buffet, and if you need anything, rely on Alex and Mark to assist you. Hands down the best hotel on the South Island.

We had a wonderful stay at The George. From the first turn down service to the room upgrade to the breakfast staff customer service,courtesy and responsiveness was terrific. We were quite busy during our stay but we managed to be offered tea in the bar and a NZ flavored water sodas brought up to our rooms.

This was our second visit here and it was another good stay. A great location next to Hagley Park and a 15 minute walk from the city centre, plus there is free parking as well. Loved that the parking area even has Tesla chargers! It's little touches like this that set The George apart from other hotels. The free little teddy bear in your room you can take away on new adventures is another great touch. The teddy even has its own Facebook page to share pictures of the new adventures. Also loved that being able to chromecast on the TV and being able to watch apps from our phone and not being bound by what's on TV. But yes of course it has all the usual touches a good hotel needs too - friendly and helpful staff, well equipped room, turndown service (the chocolate was another nice touch)... We will definitely return.…

This hotel stood out as our favourite on our 19 day NZ tour. Staff was just wonderful and very well trained. The rooms were very quiet, and the food was fantastic. Located opposite the Botanic Gardens. But the highlight also was George (the bear), which was laid on our pillows, along with chocolate. George had a tag stating that it was time for him to start travelling & we were invited to take him for an adventure. It was such a great idea as George the bear went everywhere around the South Island!

From arrival to departure, we felt special. Staff were very attentive, helpful and accommodating. Great location for a stroll to Hagley Park or into the city. We used the visit to absolutely chill after a very full-on weekend and it didn't disappoint.

This hotel was fabulous -- did not want to leave. It is boutique, very cozy, and they have free laundry with detergent and baskets which was a huge plus. The bathroom floors are heated as is the towel rack, and they have turn down service with chocolates every night and they give you an adorable George stuffed bear. The bed was super comfortable, and the restaurant at the hotel was also excellent. The staff were very friendly especially Matt and Nicole who provided wonderful service.

This hotel is outstanding in every way. The restaurant is fantastic. The bar is great. The staff are so friendly, attentive, and professional. The rooms are beautiful with super comfortable beds. The location is so convenient to so many essential places in Christ church we absolutely Enjoyed our stay here. They also have guest laundry with free detergent so we could wash our clothes mid-trip which was so nice. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.
