Do NOT reserve here unless you are prepared to accept the inflexibility of their business practices if something goes wrong! We landed in Auckland as the 2023 “once in a hundred years” cyclone hit. All domestic flights were cancelled. I immediately called to tell Peppers that we couldn’t fly to Christchurch. As it turned out, it took three days to get a flight, and at that point we had to skip Christchurch completely to catch up to our South Island itinerary. I called again, but they refused to refund the rooms because the cancellation date had passed. (No one knew a cyclone was coming on that date.) After finishing the South Island tour, we passed through Christchurch on our way to the North Island, so we stopped to talk to a manager in person. The manager said she would not refund the US$609.00 because “we should have had travel insurance.” When we persisted, she said she would refund one night—-but she did not. All of the other businesses we had booked with and needed to cancel were very understanding of the unusual disruptions of the cyclone and immediately gave us a refund. Think twice about reserving here in case anything goes wrong on your trip. They don’t value their customers and won’t make things right for you.…
Peppers Christchurch is a must to visit. The location, accommodation and especially the staff all make for a very enjoyable stay. The accommodation was fresh and clean. Menu in the restaurant was great and staff were very helpful and friendly. Included buffet breakfast was ample. Again best part was the friendliness and helping nature of the staff.
I have had the pleasure of occasionally staying at Pepper Clearwater, and it was a wonderful experience once again. I plan to return in the future. In order to further enhance the quality of the accommodations at Pepper, I must mention that during my recent stay at Room 2031, I observed that one of the doors leading to the 1st-floor balcony was broken and one of the light bulbs was out. Nevertheless, aside from these minor issues, the hotel was an exceptional place to stay. Furthermore, it would be greatly appreciated if a gym could be added to the hotel's facilities in the future. Thank you.
NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!!! Party from neighbors with music till late night, terrible, no room cleaning daily, unbelievable, we had some horror nights with drunken and unfriendly people, not worth a penny, you can hear shower and toilette from neighbors
Unbelievably awful. We paid for a garden view suite . Had views over a road to the front and garaging to the front . The furniture is old and unbelievably tatty . The room was not cleaned properly - e g. Urine splashes on the bathroom floor . The dinner service was beyond dreadful. It took 40 mins to get wine order taken only to find the 1 st 3 choices were not available . The first 2 choices of starters were not available . Eventually we found out what limited choices were available. After over 2 hours the main courses arrived . 2 problems - we had not had the starters and the main courses were cold . After 3 hours we had an ok main course . Incredibly awful. At checkout.on Sunday apparently no duty manager on duty . We were assured the manager would call us on Monda6 to sort out our complaint . Unsurprisingly over 2 weeks later nobody has bothered to ring Strongly advise to avoid at all costs…
I have to say the accommodation at Peppers Clearwater was pretty average. I would not associate the room or the breakfast service with the word “luxury”. The main entrance, the staff and what looks to be a newly renovated dining area were all nice. The location/setting was nice. The room was very worn. Skuff marked walls, watermark stained furnishings – bedside tables, lamp. The carpet was worn, the bathrooms showed mould. The view to the lake was pretty much a view out of the exit door which offered no privacy. The breakfast – some good food options but all cold, hashbrowns that had been in there from the 7am start. So when you’re eating at 10am they did not taste very pleasant. Day 2 – same again, luke warm food, watery eggs, no fruit for cereal, luke warm water in the jugs for cups of tea. Pretty disappointing stay for what was sold as a Luxury Escape.…
Nice place away from everywhere, nice relaxing feel. Rooms are on first level so need walk up stairs which is fine if you have small bags. Has a great bath and bathroom. King size bed is great very nice to sleep on. Do bring ear plugs the room next door did keep me up with their noise. Parking interesting as you need leave gap so garage - which you cannot use can be opened up?
4 night stay here in a 2 bedroom. Rooms were great & cleanliness was great. Kitchen utensils a little tired & could do with replacing. Overall though space & location suited us for our stay in Christchurch. Housekeeping ladies were lovely & check in & out was standard.
Not very positive. No parking near the unit, had to park at reception. No clear instructions where to park. Room was above someone's garage which is noisy when frequently opened. Woken twice with a phone call from reception and then a knock at the door about parking issues elsewhere in the complex. Room tired and dated. Large section of wall was damaged with paint missing from a ceiling leak. Looked as though it has been like that for a while. Appalling value for money
3 night stay in a Lakeview villa. Incredible value for money. We did not expect it to be so beautiful. 2 balconies looking out to the lake. Huge lounge dining kitchenette. Beautiful bathroom with an extra toilet downstairs. Use of garage and washer & dryer. Comfortable large bed. Very nice restaurant overlooking golf course. Resort is a bit of a drive out of christchurch but not a big deal. Thanks for a relaxing enjoyable stay.
