From the warm and friendly greeting at reception, given a gorgeous room, a lovely lounge and nice breakfast - can’t advocate for this place enough. We were given Room 1, which is at the front of the house in the original section. If you like tge 1890’s but with modern amenities this is for you. Warm, spacious, comfortable with everything you would want. At the back is the new section with reception, kitchen/dining room and though to a huge lounge and garden. Feels like home but you are treated as a guest. Sitting in front of the fire with a cup of tea was very relaxing after a long day. Botanical Gardens are minutes away, city centre 10-15 minute walk so a perfect location. The only thing, for now, is the building across the road us being repaired so we were woken early by construction stuff in the early hours. Perhaps for now, ask for a room at the back if you are a light sleeper but it’s a shame as the original home is stunning. I would definitely return without hesitation.…
We stayed a total of three nights at the Classic Villa. This lovely property is ideally situated close to the city centre and near to the Botanic Gardens, a tram stop, the Art Gallery and many restaurants. The hosts are extremely friendly and provide an excellent continental breakfast.
This was the first accommodation we stayed at during our five-week NZ adventure and one we would certainly recommend. It is ideally located just off the centre of the city, so an easy walk into the main areas where restaurants and bars can be found. The Botanical Gardens are literally just over the road. Our hosts, Steve and Jackie, were fantastic with nothing being too much trouble. They recommended places for us to eat and sights to see. The continental-style breakfasts were excellent and more than adequate to set you up for the day. Our room was large and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The guest lounge was very comfortable, and a free glass of port in the evenings was very welcome. Highly recommended.
Very comfortable and conveniently situated near the tram, Botanic gardens and restaurants? We stayed in room 1 which was large and had everything we wanted. Steve and Jackie were helpful and attentive hosts and couldn’t have done more for us. We arrived jet lagged after travelling from the UK and it was an oasis of peace and tranquillity which was much appreciated! Breakfast was a help yourself and Jackie made coffee, toast, pastries etc which were lovely. A great first impression on New Zealand. Would recommend a stay here.
This is a very elegant building with stunning bedrooms and a great lounge area. Gracious hosts who are very attentive and friendly. Breakfast is great! Well located close to the Botanical Gardens and tramway.
Wonderful boutique hotel. Our room was super comfortable, quiet and the hotel is very centrally located. Steve was great and was very helpful with everything from restaurants to things to do and any needs we might have had. I would recommend this hotel for a great and personal experience
Our hosts Steve and Jackie were warm and hospitable. Our room (#12) was spacious and the bathroom well equipped. Breakfast was a generous, self-serve expanded Continental with delicious homemade bread. The villa is a gracious spot, ideally situated in the city, just short blocks to dozens of restaurants, the Botannical Gardens, Riverside Market and shopping. A hop-on-hop-off tram stops just steps away. If you're looking for a quiet location and something more special than a cookie-cutter hotel room, then the Classic Villa is the place for you.
This was the best accomodation by far we stayed at during our South Island tour (out of 8 hotels). The hosts were extremely customer focussed, without being overbearing. The location is right in the middle of the city and the room was of a very high standard. This is a small establishment ie perhaps 15 rooms or so in an historic type two storey villa. Breakfast was continental. All in all this is definitely a 5 star accomodation, with great rooms, hosts and the best location with a short 3 - 5 minute walk to the middle of the city.
This is a lovely place to stay in Christchurch. It has a good central location near restaurants and the art gallery and botanic gardens. Helpful, friendly hosts, nice rooms and a great breakfast lounge area. This was our 2nd stay here visiting from the UK, and we'll be back next time.
For our final lodging on our NZ vacation, we could not have picked a better place. This is a beautiful hotel. The room was very comfortable and seriously I could have stayed in that shower all day. The breakfast was delicious and the breakfast room is very light, warm, and welcoming. Steve and Jackie Clark are wonderful managers. Steve gets extra props because he remembered several months after I made my booking that I’d asked about being able to get laundry done. Hotel is well situated for walking around - many great eateries close by. We were sorry to leave!
