I Stayed at the Abbey Motor Lodge for 5 days in January. I found the unit to be modern, well maintained, well serviced daily and the staff to be very helpful. The location of Abbey was great with many nice eating places within walking distance.

We stayed for two nights, and although expecting a simple room, the one above the office was old, dirty and precarious. The manager was nice enough, but the place could really be heavily updated. Although the 2011 earthquake heavily damaged the city (not this lodge), there must be other alternatives. Do look for them.

I'm using the free WIFI to write this review. It's a nice motel with all necessary and functional facilities. Helpful and friendly staff. I'm very satisfied with the comfy bed and couch in lounge. Enjoyed the SKY movie and in house DVD. Convenient Store just located in the opposite cornor, where you can get simple grocery stuff. Recommend Speights Ale...

We stayed at Abbey Lodge in September 2011. We enjoyed our stay in Christchurch immensley, and the Abbey Motor Lodge was exactly what we were looking for - good, budget accomodation close to everything. The location was great, though it could be noisy being right next to a main road. There was lots of choice of places to eat within...

The staff (other than the manager) was friendly and helpful, but this is not a place I would stay again if I had any choice. The room reeked of cigarette smoke. The tank to the toilet leaked. Very noisy. Very run down. Lousy beds. Gas station style soap dispensers instead of regular soap and shampoo. Very obvious that the emphasis...

Abbey Motor Lodge is just on the outskirts of the city centre (about 2mins drive/15mins walk), and is fairly comfortable inside - I think they renovated not long ago. They have free Wifi, which is excellent and there is a good pub/restaurant only about 30 seconds walk away. The biggest problem is the bathroom. The doors would barely close, and...

My family and I stayed there this september ( thank god is was only 1 nite ) and we will never stay there again, the room was dirty, not enough towels, there was an awefull smell in the room, I had trouble understanding the lady who checked us in. There are better hotels around for the same money.

Stayed there with a child for a couple of nights in September 2011. The place badly needs repair and upgrade. Everything is old. Right next to a large, noisy road.
