Location, Location, Location and Value for Location! What a great place for a long weekend. 24 hour reception, no late check in fees, fantastic when you arrive later in the day or evening. So close to the city, arrived at about 11.30pm got in freshened up and walked into town for a drink. The rooms are cosy, but really well set up. The bathroom cubical is also masterfully put together and everything you need is in there including great water pressure and temperature. Powerpoints in all the right places as are the light switches, within easy reach from the bed. There's a couple of over bed lighting options which are great as it's often dark in hotel rooms. The underbed storage is good for suitcases shoes etc. There's a little hanging space and coat hooks on the back of the door. The use of mirrors in the room gives a great impression of space if not a little adventurous ;-) . The buffet breakfast for under $25.00 is also great value for money and starts at 7.00am so you can get up get fed and get going on your day. You can easily spend that in a cafe in the mall. The coffee is good, hot and tastey. There's a late supper menu till 3.00am which I thought was good but didn't order. The lounge, bar, restaurant is a lovely space with reception tucked at the back so you feel like it's private, while being accessible. The cafe had an assortment of sandwiches and sweet treats during the day which was also good. Paid onsite parking available which is ok value for the reason you can come and go as you please and is just outside the main door. There is limited free parking around the neighbourhood which we were lucky enough to take advantage of over the weekend, but this will slowly be replaced as the apartments are put in place. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Location wise was a winner for this place. Walk to everything in the city or parks. Value for money, recommended accomodation. …

Great location!! It was within walking distance of popular attractions, restaurants and shops, making it incredibly convenient to explore Christchurch City and enjoy the surroundings. Service was top-notch. Highly recommended.

The 1st night was not great at all, due to room was facing to the office even I booked an urban view. And the next morning I was in the middle of shower, but all the sudden only came out cold water, tried to call to the reception few times but no one answer. However, I’ve shared the feedback with the duty manager, and very appreciated the service recovery for the next stay. Overall, the hotel has a great location, and food from the lobby bar also really nice. the laundry room all clean and tidy.

Great location and a good room. Cost effective option in the middle of town. I’ll definitely be staying here again whenever I’m back for business. And the central location meant catching an Uber was nearly instantaneous.

Located in the heart of Christchurch and able to walk easily to Oxford Tce restaurant precinct. Rooms at Break-free are small, however for one person perfectly fine and met all my needs. Having said that, I had a window and city view. I would not have liked one of the rooms with no window. Wall mounted TV and plenty of storage for suitcases under the queen size bed. Bathroom is a pod style, but again fine for one person at a time. Breakfast was good continental style and adequate. Car park across the road was convenient and cost $NZ15 per day to park there. I would stay here in a Queen room again.

I received an upgrade for a much larger room, the room was lovely and warm on my arrival. The Staff were super friendly and accommodating and check in was fast and efficient. The Hotel is centrally located, close walk to cafe, restaurants and shops.

The location of the hotel was very good. The price was very reasonable. The room was clean but basic. The staff at the front desk were friendly. I didn't like the toilet. It was separated from the rest of the room by frosted glass, which meant the room would be very bright if the toilet lights were on. Overall it was a good stay. I would highly recommend it.

It’s a great location - 1 block from Cathedral Square. Nice bar and seemed Reasonably priced. Not sure about dinner meals but some options were available. Small rooms - Compact +. All clean but aged. Really nice and quiet at night. Don’t get buffet breakfast. Took forever and not great staff. Definitely better value options close - e.g. Joes Garage

The rooms are as tiny as the reviews here suggest, but I actually loved that! It had everything I needed. The staff were also very helpful, the laundry and gym facilities were great, and the meals I had in the restaurant were both good too. But I wouldn’t stay here again unless I was certain that there were no groups of young adults staying too - the noise was really tough at times, not to mention the knocking on my door; and as a solo female traveller it left me feeling a tad vulnerable, as well as tired!
