It was a real pleasure to stay in a home that still retains its original features and history so beautifully, like stepping back in time. The hospitality and warmth shown by hosts Graham and Sandi was incredibly welcoming. The meals were excellent too!

Breathe the country air in a rural setting, experience the big skies of West Otago, and be pampered by a host and hostess who know how to make you feel at home. This beautiful historic Victorian mansion has been restored to elegance with loving care by hosts Graham and Sandi who have, over twelve years, created a sumptious setting while...

Seek out this lovely Victorian lodge for a stay or a meal. Graham and Sandi have lovingly restored the house to its former glory, and now offer one the best places to stay on the South Island. We felt very privileged to have found Mainholm and will definitely return soon. Sandi prepares the food and Graham is the most hospitable...

Having spent quite a long time in mainholm I had the possibility to get to know better the house, its surroundings and the owners. Graham and sandy have spent 10 years renoving and taking care of this wonderful house. As a result you can feel the house living, breathing and giving back all the good she has been receiving. They...

First of all I would commend the owners in how they have restored this beautiful old house. I had discussed my dietary requirements on the phone with the owner when I booked this accommodation a month previously and had been reassured it would be catered for. However, there was nothing available on the menu and the only option was a...

Mainholm Country Lodge is a cross between a boutique b n b and a small country hotel. It is a destination in itself and is about half an hour out of Gore, with plenty of opportunities for local walks or as a stopover to points further afield. We would strongly recommend going the whole hog and ordering the dinner –...

What a find! Arriving in September rain this historic homestead was a very welcome sight. The dinner we had on the first night in the Drawing room with open fire to set the mood was excellent. the attention to detail in both the décor and presentation of the property is a credit to the hosts. This is really one of the best Homestay Lodges in New Zealand! We stayed for almost a week at the Mainholm Lodge. It was lovely! Great food, a beautiful historic (1908) house and very cozy near the fireplace! Thanks Graham and Sandie

Amazing accommodation, food and people. I highly recommended to anyone who wants a base in this part of the South Island - plus a bit of Victorian elegance and luxury while you're at it! The rooms are stunning, with fantastic views and the food is to die for (I recommend the steak, but make sure you leave room for dessert!)....
