OK, firstly disregard the management photo of the cosy welcoming couch - that's in the coffee shop downstairs. This place is a dump, it stinks of old chip fat and the carpets are wrank. The whole building looks like it's on antidepressants, it's just unloved and unserviced. I wore flip flops all the time so my feet didn't come into...

We stayed here for two nights and I can honestly say that it has been the worst hostel I've stayed in during my time in New Zealand. On the first night, our group of 6 were checked into a 8 bed room which already had 4 people in! That meant that 2 of us didn't have a bed! One of...

I mean let's just start off with saying : what do you expect in Invercargill? But seriously, this isn't the greatest hostel - the kitchen is semi clean, I could not find a single intact pan/pot, the hot water wasn't working and the fridge wasn't the cleanest, either. We slept in an 8 bed dorm that smelled like sweat and...

Until now, I haven't had any problems with any hostel or accommodation in New Zealand. Stayed for one night with my friends at Tuatara Lodge in Invercargill and not happy with the service provided at all. The staff checked us into the wrong room (which was already taken), so we went in and woke up the person in the room....

Simple modern and clean hostel for a great price (around $26-$30 for a dorm). The bedrooms are comfortable, if a little cramped. The kitchens are clean and spacious with enough facilities for everyone. There is free WIFI! There is also a TV lounge, laundry and other general services that are great for backpackers. Would come again but unfortunately Invercargill is...

This hostel has to be the worst I've stayed at within the South Island of New Zealand. To start of with, I found the lady working on reception very rude. The place is very very dirty. The kitchen has dirty plates etc (3days I counted) i appreciate people should do there own dishes, but just to leave dirty a kitchen...

We stay in tuatara everytime we go to invercargill. It's never disappointing! Last time we got to know the reception girl Kay and she was super helpful and welcoming! The cafe was redecorated and look quite modern and nice! Last but not least, very good wifi!

Nice facilities, well maintained. Find the beds a little noisy. Wish hostels in general would get away from the metal pipe style bunks. Our room also didn't have a window. Thought that was odd. Cafe receives amazing reviews but didn't get a chance to try.

Overall good and clean and is a quiet place to stay! They have huge lounge area but the wifi is really slow. Tv room have tape VCR and tv is very old fashion from the 80's! No new movie selection and entertainment is lack in this hostel. Internet room do not have enough plug points too. So I am wandering...

Arrived when everywhere else was booked out - but these guys bent over backwards to assist - even going so far as to provide a secure park for my (well-travelled) motorbike. Loved the facilities, the staff were great and it was all a walks distance from most things in town. (well - that's what we do as travellers)
