Great centrally located accommodation. Rooms were comfortable and had their own separate sinks which was a great addition. Very quiet and with great views. An easy walk from the ferry and a 1-minute walk from the Four Square.

We booked the motel units at the back of the hotel and they were clean, large, warm and everything we wanted. No complaints there at all. The hotel itself is intriguing, obviously with a lot of history. Right on the waterfront with glorious views over Half Moon Bay. The meals were wonderful. Plentiful, so tasty, well presented and we couldn't have asked for better. The breakfasts (try the pancakes & berries!) were also rather good! This is an older building, currently having some renovations done in parts, so comes with a few quirks, which only add to he charms. The service and staff are delightful and we had a really great stay here. Love Stewart Island !

We had two nights here, and really enjoyed the experience. We stayed in the motel units behind the pub. Lovely and modern, comfy bed and good shower, the only thing stopping 5 stars was the incredibly loud creaking that happened several times each night, like an earthquake noise without the shake (we get lots of shakes where I live) or someone thumping the window. Woke us up every time - weird. The pub food - both in the pub and restaurant was excellent - delicious and good quantity. You must book the restaurant (although the food is the same in both places) as it books out quickly, and there aren't really any other places to eat. A bit expensive, but everything on Stewart Island is as everything needs to be freighted in. Right on the water's edge, we'd stay here again ( and definitely eat here again!) without hesitation.

We stayed in Queen Bedded room in the hotel, using the shared bathroom facilities. The room was very comfortable, bed was great. There is a nice lounge overlooking the bay, a wonderful place to relax. The hotel was under going some refurbishment at the time we stayed, which had no effect on our stay. The staff were fantastic and handling the COVID situation very well. We ate at the hotel each night for three nights. The food was fantastic. Great Blue Cod dishes!!! Look forward to returning and seeing the refurbishments complete!!

We were very impressed with the hospitality and great food especially the Mussels at the South Sea Hotel. After long days out fishing and exploring the island, it was great to come here and meet other travellers as well as many locals, whom were all laid back friendly. "Friday" I believe the name of one of the barman, is a great musician and played the guitar and sang many old songs that got the crowd going. This was a real chance to discover a peace of Kiwinana and go back to how times once were in many rural areas. Na Mihi , Greg
